Trouble with a neighbor. WWYD?

We own and the house next door has 2 tenants and an absentee landlord. We can get in touch with the landlord if need be.

They have a driveway that butts up to our property. One of the tenants has been parking his car across the sidewalk so the landscapers that do his yard don't scratch it.

This completely blocks the side walk. DD (almost 3) can't ride her trike in that direction. When I walk with a stroller I have to go in the street. There are other kids on the street she's friends with that we can't get to without going in the street. That aside - there is an ordinance stating you can't park on the sidewalk.

Last night I went over to ask him to stop blocking the sidewalk (nicely). His car had been there since Sunday night. I said if he wanted to move his car closer to his house I'd have no problem with the landscapers walking over our grass to get to his backyard. He suggested having DD walk up his driveway and over his lawn to get around his car.

Well, not sure if it was a misunderstanding or he's sending me a message but he parked half of his car - no exaggeration, on my lawn this morning. I photographed it all.

I'm going to, in good faith, address it as a misunderstanding when he gets home from work and ask him to move his car.

WWYD?

I'm considering contacting the landlord or village code enforcement.

Edited to correct spelling.

call the cops....he parked his car on your lawn on purpose....

I wouldn't even waste my time talking to him. He doesn't own the house so you don't have to deal with him long term...just til he moves.

I'd be on the phone with the police.

I agree. You asked nicely and even offered your space for the landscapers to get through. I would also call everytime he blocks the sidewalk until he stops.
I have no patience for people who act like a$$holes.

Give him one more chance, chances are he is just doing to spite you, but if you address it like he just made a stupid mistake (kill him with kindness type of thing), he will hopfully feel that way (stupid). After that then maybe think about calling the cops. And I hate to sound sexist, but I think sometimes people like this respond better to a male, maybe have your husband or another male talk to him this time?

Re: Trouble with a neighbor. WWYD?

It looks like it was out of spite. He went out for a while after he got home from work with the car and then re-parked it on my lawn again. When he pulled in, after 9pm he knew full well my DD was in bed for the night and he had his music BLASTING which he never does, and then clicked his car alarm and made the car beep 5 times which he never does.

I'm removing myself from the situation, we don't need to deal with such a jerk. I spoke to the landlord this morning and he said he'll take care of it. If it's still an issue this time next week I'll file a complaint with code enforcement and contact the police when he parks on my lawn.

I think we may need to put in a fence at some point. We shall see, but I believe that good fences make good neighbors and would help the issue here.
