trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
I've really been having some issues with this. Whenever I lay on my side (either one) that leg will start to hurt so I have to roll over. And then I find myself on my back and quickly try to turn again because I know I'm not supposed to. Last night was the worst. I just couldn't get comfotable and got no sleep at all. Work today is hell. Anybody experience anythng like that?

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
With my first pregnancy I barely slept in the third tri. Try to rest when you can!

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
My sleeping has been pretty awful in the 3rd tri. Do you sleep with a pillow btwn your knees? It helps with the achy feeling.

yeah I have a body pillow. That helps a little, but I still get pain in my upper leg (thigh area).

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
I do a lot of tossing and turning. And considering I have to sit up to do that, sleep kind of sucks. Add in two toddlers who are not really sleeping well lately either, and ughhhhh.

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
This has been happening to me since about 32 weeks! I sleep with a pillow in between my legs which helps a bit. Sometimes, I will even resort to taking some Tylenol before going to bed to help with the body aches.

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
My hips hurt so bad when I sleep on my sides, but I found a position similar to one they recommended in my L&D class --- basically you're on your side with your top knee bent completely and placed on a pillow so it's parallel to your other leg but supported. It seems to work pretty well!
Also, my doctor has never once told me I can't sleep on my back. I do sleep with two pillows under my head to try to keep my nose from getting stuffed, and I have pillows all around me, so even when I am on my back, I'm kinda partially propped. But getting sleep is really important so if you can do it on your back, you should just go for it.
I miss sleeping on my stomach so much. It just hurts way too much to and my doctor did tell me as soon as it hurts to stop sleeping on my stomach.
Hope you feel better!

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
Yup, totally sucks! Getting comfy is hard...then waking up to pee, I never fall back asleep! My hips ache...rolling over is getting to be more of a chore. Oh joy

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
I've been really trying to sleep on my left side but I notice that if i stay too long my whole side hurts
My neck is also starting to hurt and my lower back is horrible.
I also have DD crawling into bed every now and then which doesnt help since she's a light sleeper and any time I move I wake her up

Re: trouble sleeping in 3rd trimester
oh my goodness. So sorry that so many of us are having such trouble sleeping. It definitely sucks. I tend to get sick if I don't get enough sleep. Ugh. I don't think there's anything I can really do though other than conanstantly tossing & turning until I find a comfortable position.
