Re: Trigger Shot?-Re Post
I have had 3 IUI's, all preceded with an ovidrel trigger shot in my stomach, self-administered. When I first heard I would have to stick myself with a needle I nearly fell over and puked simultaneously. But like everything else, you get use to it, and FAST. It is the tiniest teeniest needle ever, and if you pinch your skin, it really does not hurt at all. You BARELY feel anything. If you want you can ice the area for a few minutes before hand. Youtube has videos on women actually giving themselves the shot.
It really is easy. The anxiety BEFORE is the worst part, honest. No need to be scared.

I got emla cream which you put on your skin about 30 minutes before an injection and you don't feel the needle at all. It numbs your skin. I used it for my trigger shot and the following 7 weeks of progesterone shots... never felt a single needle going in.

That is what my RE does. It just helps to time Ovulation perfectly & makes it easier for you to know when exactly to BD .
Are they giving you the Trigger in the office? They gave it to me when I went in for monitoring and the nurse gave it to be in my Backside area..
It was not painful at all, I actually couldn't even feel. Maybe it's all my extra cushion back there.

They usually tell you to BD 3 days in a row, starting the day you get your Trigger shot. Most likely you will ovulate within 24-36hrs from when you receive the shot.
They usually say to not BD the few days leading up to the trigger. That way you will be able to 3 days in a row starting hopefully on thursday.
