Some post-shot fever questions...
My ped defines a fever as 100.4. He said if he gets one to give Tylenol every four hours. So, I wouldn't give until temp was 100.4, correct? Regarding the every four hours - during the day - would you wake baby for the tylenol? I won't at night. Also, how do you know fever? Do you keep taking temp or will I be able to tell? If he does get a fever, can I take him out or should he be at home?
Many thanks!!

Re: Some post-shot fever questions...
My ped doesn't have us give medicines for fevers for shots - esp not for a fever that low. I am told that there is no medical reason to medicate for a low fever from a shot - unless the baby/child is uncomfortable then you give it for pain relief.
I think someone posted recently an article about pain meds not giving pain meds after shots b.c it inhibits the body's reaction.
Etd to add - yes you would follow the directions - I think tylenol is every 4 hours (it says it on the box). I don't think it is needed for 100.4 but if you do I wouldn't wake your DC for a temp that low. If it was really high I would but not for a low temp.

Thank you. Ugh - he is miserable. He is screaming and it's like his pain scream - but he didn't have a fever before, It is going to be a loooong night.
