Tree Removal

I recently got a quote to remove two big trees and trim back two other trees. They quoted me at $5400. Does anyone know if this is a fair estimate, I have never dealt with tree removal before. TIA.

Don't know how big the trees are but that sounds like a lot of money.
Is this the only estimate you got?

Re: Tree Removal

Seems a bit expensive. Someone was just telling me they are having a fairly large tree cut down for 700.

Good Luck!

Call Redwood Tree Experts

We got a quote for 3 trees to be taken down with stump grinding for $600. The trees are all taller than our 2 story house.

Re: Tree Removal

That is very high. We recently had 13 trees removed (including stump grinding) and only paid $2000. We used A1 All County Tree Service in Mineola.

We also got quotes from Cheap Charlies, Poor Man's Tree Service, and Dank. Their prices were comparable but we decided to go with A1 because they had an A rating with the BBB.

Re: Tree Removal

That's insane! We just used Joe's Tree Service. Their number is: (631) 956-3740. They did a great job and negotiated their price to what was comfortable to us. I loved them.

Re: Tree Removal

That's a rip off.

Try Cornell Tree Experts.

Get a lot of estimates. Also, if you do the tree cutting in Feb/March, it is before their season starts so they are looking for jobs and will give a better price.

Re: Tree Removal

Are they crazy??

We just had two huge trees taken down; stump grinded; for $850-. There is no reason you should pay over $5K for what you need done. Rediculous!! We had 6 quotes; and the guys we used were the cheapest.

Here's their site if you are interested.

Re: Tree Removal

That's insane, the cost does depend on the tree type, size and how close it is to your house, but definitely cross that tree contractor off your list and find others!

It shouldn't cost more than 1000 to remove 1 hard to remove tree...

I agree. Based on your suggestion, I used him in the past. Very nice guy, came that day, the best price, and done! I would use them again in a second.

Re: Tree Removal

Are they grinding the stump or pulling it out completely? Are they hauling the tree away or cutting it up and leaving it on your curb? Are there any roots that need to be removed? All of these factors will drive the cost up. You really won't know if it's overpriced until you compare the same job with multiple companies. Get at least 3 estimates.

Re: Tree Removal

it sounds high but how far back into your property are the trees? do they have to move the pieces a long distance to remove them from your property? i heard that sometimes, that is what makes tree removal so expensive.

i'd shop around more first though!

Re: Tree Removal

Sounds pricey to me. Try calling Fosters. (631) 957-1540 We had them remove a load of trees 1.5 years ago (and in the snow). They worked quickly and cleaned up everything!

I'm really glad you called them. They are quick and do good work. They did about 5 stumps on my property and 17 trees!! Chat Icon

I also recommended them to my mom and another LIF member, both were also very happy.

I met with Tom from Joe Tree Tree Company and he gave me an estimate of $2100. He was extremely nice and we will most likely use that company. He is going to do more work then the previous company, such as grinding down the stumps. Thanks for all the help, I am looking forward to getting rid of trees around the house and the branches that are touching the house that need to go.
