Traveling at 35 weeks
I live in Atlanta, and my husband and I were thinking about going to hilton head next week for 2 days. ILs have a house there. It is about a 4.5 hour trip. I will be almost 35 weeks then. Would you go? I'm not working right now, and I'm going a little stir crazy in the house......and I hate the fact that if we don't go, I will not see the beach all summer - of course that is superficial compared to the health and well being of my baby. I've been feeling great, no complications, etc. Dr. told me not to travel after second trimester, because there is always a chance of delivering early.
what would you do?

Re: Traveling at 35 weeks
my dr told me not to fly after 32 weeks didnt say anything about general travel. So of course I planned every flight I could up until 30 weeks...lol In your case...I probably would go BUT that is sooooo me. I know someone who had their baby in travel (not to scare you) so I dont want to give you advice that could not be right...but if it were me....I would so be at Hilton Head

Re: Traveling at 35 weeks
I know you want to go but if it were me I wouldn't want to sit in a car for 4.5 hours and be that far away from my Dr plus I gave birth at 35 weeks....

Re: Traveling at 35 weeks
I would go if I were you - just make sure to have a list of nearby hospitals in case you need to go in for any reason. You really should be fine at 35 weeks. If it makes you feel any better I am going to Paris at 34 weeks pregnant!!! Of course this is baby #2 for me, hence why I'm probably a little more lax.

Re: Traveling at 35 weeks
Personally, I wouldn't go, not that you couldn't though. Dr didn't want me traveling more than an hour away from home after 34 weeks.
BUT, if you feel comfortable sitting in a car for the trip and would be okay, if it happens giving birth in a hospital not your own or with an unfamiliar dr, GO RELAX!!
Those were the reasons I didn't travel, and all my family live 2 hours away from me! I missed easter and palm sunday and a christening!
