Transitioning to 1 nap question
I have no clue when it happened or how I did it with DD-- but, DS goes to sleep very easily/quickly for his AM nap-- but has been taking shorter and shorter naps in the morning.
Is he just going through a phase and maybe teething so not taking long naps- or is this a sign he doesn't necessarily need this nap?
I have been feeling that since he goes down so quickly he still wants/needs it-- but, I am doubting that theory a little.
He'll be 1 this week.

Transitioning to 1 nap question
My DS did it at one and it was because they only take one nap in his new room at daycare.

Transitioning to 1 nap question
With DS he dropped it around a year. I knew he was ready because he was giving me a hard time going down for the afternoon nap and just not sleeping as well in general. I did a slow transition by pushing the morning nap later so they became one midday nap. But DD is 17 months and is still going strong with 2 naps. I keep waiting for her to drop it, but she loves her sleep!!

Re: Transitioning to 1 nap question
I think DD started around 1 or so for 1 nap. I think it was more me, I couldn't fit in the second nap. At 22 months she still naps once a day. I try and put her down around 2 and I get a nice long nap. It gives me time to do homework with DS since he gets home at 3. She gets up at 7 and goes to bed between 7 and 8. If I put her down at noon she will only sleep for an hour half tops.

Re: Transitioning to 1 nap question
DS is 11 months, and once he got out of that newborn stage where all they do is eat and sleep, he's only napped 1x per day!! It's usually about 3-4 hours after he wakes in the morning. And the times varies each day, sometimes he wakes at 7 am, sometimes its 9 am. He's always in bed by 8:30-9 pm. He normally sleeps 12-13 hours. The nap is usually 2.5-3 hours long.
On a good, normal day:
wakes about 9 am - breakfast naps after lunch, usually by 1 pm, after a small lunch nap from 1-3 or 4 pm snack when he wakes (some cheerios or puffs, maybe some pieces of fruit) dinner 6:30 bed by 8:30-9 pm

Re: Transitioning to 1 nap question
we're going through this right now. i hate this part.
ds#2 just turned 1 last week.
He was doing 2 hour naps, twice a day. Lately it's been 1 hour naps, twice a day. But then by 6pm he's shot.
But i also know he's getting 4 teeth in right now so i'm sure that contributes to it as well.
It's tough because sometimes after only 2 hours of being awake in the am, he starts rubbing his eyes. So i think he still needs 2. Just wish they were longer and he could last longer at night.
ds#1, we forced him to 1 nap at 15 months.
