Transferring Utilities
We haven't closed yet, but I was wondering if there is anything special I have to do.
Or, do I just call the companies and tell them when we are moving in? Is it that easy?

We just called a couple of days before to let them know we were moving in and to change the names on the account. Everything went rather smoothly.

just give them a call and tell them what date you want the utilities in your name. if you're paying for utilities where you currently live also tell them to shut off your service there too.
