Tough night last night and confused

Last night I woke up out of a dead sleep around 3am with the worst pulling, stabbing cramp feeling on my lower right side of my abdomen. It kind of spread to the front of my belly but the most painful part was definetly more to the right. I tried changing positions and the feeling would come and go but when it would go I would still feel sore and when it would come it would be intense.

Also I noticed my stomach was harder than a rock when the pain got intense, I mean harder than I have ever felt it before. This lasted almost an hour and then it just stopped hurting and I was able to go back to sleep.

Any idea what this is? I was going to go the hospital if it kept going but now I am confused since it stopped Chat Icon

I've been having very similar pains and brought it up to my OB at my last appointment. He said that it's just my ab muscles stretching outward and it's nothing for me to be alarmed about. I guess that's sort of what I assumed, but the pain is so intense sometimes that I really thought there had to be a pregnancy-related issue behind it. I would bring it up at your next appointment and heve your OB check out the area via ultrasound just to make sure everything is A-OK!

Honestly, it sounds like a really bad gas pain. I wouldn't worry about it. You're going to have alot of weird aches and pains as you get closer.

Re: Tough night last night and confused

I've been having similar pains at night, and I think a lot of it is because I spend too much time upright during the day. Last night my back hurt so bad when I went to lay down, I was almost crying.

I can't tell the difference between contractions and the baby moving and pushing these days, which is weird because I used to be able to tell. I have an appointment on Monday so I'm going to ask more about that then.

My mom had my brother at just under 35 weeks and me and just over 35 weeks, and I'm getting into that range right now so I think I'm also being hyper aware of all the pains. The baby definitely does not have enough room anymore, and my body is stretched pretty much to its limit (I'm about 5 lbs lighter than my heaviest weight of my life still and it's just so achy from all the extra weight it's not used to).

Since everyone has been telling you that you'll go early for so long now, you're probably just as aware of all the pains as I am for similar reasons. But I think being extra cautious is better than ignoring pain. I just keep trying to tell myself it's Pain with a Purpose and not to worry that something is wrong.

Hope you get answers and feel better soon!
