Total long shot question
Has anyone had or discussed ovarian drilling? If so, who around here does it...I can't find anyone and you really need an experienced practitioner to have it done correctly. I did a search and saw a few references to it, but no actual doctor names. Any info greatly appreciated! Pls feel free to FM me if you like!

Re: Total long shot question
Um...whenever I have read about this over the years, the only thing I remember is that most people would say not to do it. Did your RE recommend doing this?
Did you try IVFconnections? I think everything has been done at least once on that site.
Good luck!

No, I am done with what my the "experts" recommend and am doing what I need to do for myself at this point in time. I have known about this for years and always was interested and was told to hold off, due to the risk of it not working and premature ovarian failure. Well, since I'm at the end of the line anyway, I fell I have nothing to lose with trying it. It is supposed to have a major positive effect on the hormone imbalances...most likely a source of my egg quality issues. The UK is much more advanced with this procedure/PCOS treatment overall. Maybe I should take a trip across the pond for a consult, LOL!

I never heard of this. (I just googled) I just wanted to wish you luck in whatever you decide. I believe we have have to be our OWN advocates during this process, because no one doctor knows all.

Re: Total long shot question
A gf of mine had this done last month. She had her ovaries drilled and a septum removed. She was in a bit of pain and on bed rest for a few days. She doesn't know if it worked or not since she just had it done but this is her last chance. If it doesn't work she will be moving on to adoption so the risk of pof didn't matter. Unfortunately she is in Ohio so I can't recommend a doctor but there are doctors over here that will do it. She is proof.

Just wanted to send you some Hugs!! I think it doesn't hurt to look into other options! You have to do what your gut is telling you and be proactive about finding out about other treatments.
I hope either way you can figure out a good plan for next cycle!

Re: Total long shot question
Hey, why not try to go to IVFconnections and go to the UK thread and see if anyone has done it? Hey, you can write the trip off as medical expense

Thank you for your reply. Hope all works out for your friend! Could you possibly ask her if her doctor could recommend someone on LI or NYC? That would be most helpful! Tx!

Re: Total long shot question
OK, just check the site I recommended and sorry to say there is nothing there that I can find. Actually the UK thread is completely inactive. Keep looking, someone must know something.

Re: Total long shot question
Hey- I looked into this a few years ago and decided against it. I know my 1st RE talked about taking a "wedge" out of my ovary rather than drilling--- @ Stony Brook... but I decided against that as well b/c he couldn't answer me if it would be enough --- he said it helps some people, but others it doesn't help, and I was too nervous about it. GL with whatever you decide!
