toothache remedies....
I think my tooth is infected again, (It hurst when I put pressure on it) and Im in so much pain i couldnt sleep last night. I took everything...Alleve, and even 2 Tylenol with Codeine, and it didnt help, in fact I think it kept me up.
I hope I can make it till tomorow.
Anyone know of any good things I can do to make it through this day

Sorry your in pain..... I can't believe Tylenol with Codeine didn't help.....I would call a dentist asap,continue w/the pain killers and maybe put some ambasol(sp?) to numb it until the dentist can get you in...... also, try not to chew on it..........GL... feel better....

there really isn't anything other than prescription pain pills that will help an infected tooth. If it is infected the pressure buids up inside the tooth and only adjusting the tooth so it can't hit the others when you close your mouth, or having a root canal or extraction will do the trick. Call your dentist, my boss treats real emergancies on Sundays if people are really in pain.
If its the tooth, ambasol won't work-that just numbs the gums.

I also heard caffeine makes pain feel worse. I do not remember where I read that.

The ONLY thing that helped my tooth infections...
Irish Whiskey! Take a little in a cup...or shot glass and let it sit in the infected area....don't swallow it, just kind of let it sit in the infected area.
It not only will help kill the infection, but it will numb the pain.

Advil or motrin work 100% better for me than tylenol does. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, so I think thats why it works better.
Feel better---hurting teeth sucks!

I have had major teeth issues over the past few months
they say that aleve works great, dont lay down and hot makes it worse
I would say have sorme wine and numb your mouth, or it may just make u forget abt the pain

when i've had pain like that in the past, the thing that worked best for me was rinsing with Peroxide (don't forget to spit!).
and, applying a cold pack helped for a bit too.

OMG! I was in the hospital ALL DAY with DH, he cracked his tooth last week and ddin't wan't/ was too "busy" to go when it happened. He woke up this morn. with a lump on the side of his fae like a tennis ball. They took him in for a catscan/bloodwork and IV because they were concerned infection had spread. They gave him Vic's for pain. What an ordeal, they sent him home from Stony Brook because there was "nothing they could do for him" luckily our regular DDS met him for a quick appointment and sent him right to St Charles to have the tooth emergency extracted and drained. I can't friggin believe SB sent him home like that!!!!!!! THE INFECTION COULD HAVE SPREAD OVER NIGHT INTO HIS HEAD!!!!!

OMG I feel your pain! I had what I thought was a major ear infection last week - I even went to the emergency room over the weekend because the pain was so bad! They told me my ears were fine and it turned out to be my tooth. I took motrin, tylenol and aleve simultaneously and it still barely helped! I even called the dentist the evening before my visit because I was in so much pain (my whole face hurt) and he prescribed me vicodin to get through the night - and that hardly even worked.
Try the motrin and tylenol together. It took the edge of for about and hour or two - at least to just give you a break. I swear tooth pain was worse for me than labor!
Good luck and get to the dentist tomorrow!

An ice pack and salt water rinses, and Advil OR alleve. feel better. I have been going thru root canal....

The only thing that helps at that point is going to the ER and having it pulled. I just had it done at NUMC.
