Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I am starting to look like I have a muffin top in my regular clothing.
I am only 8 weeks 3 days any suggestions? ETA- I think I am 8week 3 days not 8weeks 6 days
My velour sweatsuits are my best friend right now but I can't wear them everywhere.
When did you start buying maternity stuff?
If you didn't buy maternity stuff what do you suggest?

18 weeks. I was wearing clothes from before I lost weight recently though until then. People have also recommended the Bella Band to wear your regular clothes longer.

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
i think i started to buy maternity clothes at around my 20's week. i waited so long because i never had the time to and also maternity clothes can be crazy expensive! just brand them wedding stuff or baby (related) stuff and the price is through the roof. but i did give in. shopped at places like Target and Gap. and only for a few items. and outside of maternity clothes, thankfully, the clothing industry nowadays have come out with lengthier tops.

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
buy a bella band - it has been my best friend!!! I was regularly in maternity pants at around 24 weeks - but I would wear the bella band with my regular pants at around 12 weeks or so.
I still wear the bella band - some of my maternity tops are getting a little too short for my liking and now I just add the band.

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
You can also get the band at any Motherhood Maternity Store...or one of those combination maternity stores. It's really never too early in the pregnancy for maternity clothes...each body is different, and your's might be letting you know the changes sooner than others!

Is Pea in the Pod a store or an online store? I would love to go somewhere to try one on first.

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I bought numerous pants with an elastic waist, starting around week 7. They come in all types, dressy or not. I was so gassy that my pants killed me. I started to buy maternity at about 12 weeks, but haven't worn them yet. I found them on major sale and gobbled them up early!

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I didnt' start wearing maternity clothes till about 20 weeks.
I went out and bought some shirts that were XL and 1X to wear for a few months- since I was in the inbetween stage of showing and maternity shirts just were too big on me. I bought a few pairs of stretchy pants with the elastic to also wear during those inbetween stages.
It actually worked out to my advantage because after the baby - it still took a few months for me to get back to my normal weight and fit into my regular clothes again - so I got good use of wearing the bigger size clothes again.
Just an idea

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I bought a bella band but I hated that thing. It was so weird and kept riding up and ended up around my ribs. I also bought maternity clothes early but I was really just bloated and didn't need to wear them until 16/17 weeks.

Its a regular store - I went to the one in NYC on 57th. I know there is one in Manhasset also but, not sure where else.

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I bought regular clothes one size bigger and it held me off for a long time. The good part about having them is that you can wear them while waiting to get into pre-pregnancy clothing after the birth

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
i bought my first pair of maternity jeans at 13 wks. there was no way i could squeeze myself into my prepregnancy jeans at that point and i live in jeans!! i also started buying some tops one size bigger than my regular size recently (im 14 wks now).
but at around 10 weeks i bought a few pairs of really comfy yoga pants and wear them everywhere (when im not in my maternity jeans)!!
just be comfy and dont try squeezing into your pants if they are too tight...its not worth you being so uncomfortable!!!

Re: Too soon for maternity clothes but........
I just bought my first pair of maternity jeans at Old Navy last week (at 9 wks) & they feel so much better. I usually wear tight jeans so my regular jeans don't zip up anymore.
Instead of buying the bella band, I took a really tight tank top & cut the shoulder straps off & then wore it like a tube top but pulled it down to cover my unbuttoned jeans, similar to the bella band.
That worked for me but you should do what you have to in order to be comfy.

I started buying maternity clothes around 22 weeks. I was wearing my usual pants, but using a rubber band to close them with!!
