Toilet problems

The wax stuff around my toilet bottom has gotten loosened and now my toilet is shaky. When I lean it to the side a little, some water comes out on the bottom. Can I just replace the wax on the bottom or is there something internal that needs to be done? Please help!

we have the same problem (our toilet is 50+ years old) but we are just replacing it today or tomorrow. It could be the screws (lugs) on the bottom that need to be tightened but if its the seal as well then you can buy a new one to replace it or just buy a new toilet to replace it. We got ours at home depot for $100 because all the parts were replaced in the tank when we closed and its still running.

The wax doesn't flex, so any toilet that tilts will leak some water. The issue is why is it loose. Definitely check the bolts on either side. That's probably where the problem is. Also make sure that the floor is sound. If there have been leaks for a while, the floor could be rotting away.

The rot was under the tile, so I couldn't really see it until it got this bad.

yea i imagine we will have to do a new subfloor when we pull up our tile (eh) that is why we are just doing the quick fix so in a few more years we will do the correct fix. I just hope when we yank up the toilet the floor doesn't give us a problem.
