toddler day care question

Returning to work in few weeks as this maternity leave ends with second son, while pregnant I was late to work often especially on day care days..I'd make up the time but it's not ideal..and this has to stop, I need to get the 2 year old to day care by 7am to make it on time to work. Is it ok to ask teachers to change him into clothes, bringing him in pjs!? I know they do it in the baby room but he is big boy now!? Even if they agreed, is that it of line, would he be embarrassed,I wonder. Plus I don't think I can get away with it next year bringing me back to same problem! What do you think...tips to getting out the door faster?

IMO I wouldn't do it. I'm sure it happens but I get up an hour easier than when I did before my ds. I do it because it's just what I have to do as a parent. I am on a train to the city by 657. I have never missed it.

Its not that hard if you are set up with your bags etc the night before. Getting a toddler dressed is literally 2 minutes so it really shouldn't make you late

I agree with the PP. Set up everything you can the night before, including picking out his outfit. Even waking up 15 minutes earlier can make a big difference.

I have to get 2 kids to daycare by 7 and get to work by 730.

Just have to get up earlier unfortunately.

Sadly having a child means less sleep no matter how you slice it.
I just started getting up earlier when DD started daycare.
It stinks, but it's life.

My boys are out of the house by 6:46 am at the latest, in the door of the daycare by 6:50 (and again, that's running late)
I have to catch a 7:15 train

I would not bring him to 'school' in his PJs. I didn't even do that when they were babies.
Get him (and yourself) into the routine of getting dressed. It will be easier in the long run

waking up early is the only way. i try to have myself 1/2 way ready by the time my kids are up so that it's less stressful getting out the door. it's tough but now that i have two, i need to.

laying out clothes the night and having anythig they need at the door ready to go is helpful too.

When I have to get the boys to school we are on the road by 6:55 to get there for 7 so I can catch a 7:22 train. I make sure I leave their clothes out the night before, back the car as soon as I get up and I wake them if I need to so I can be at work on time.

I wouldn't have him changed at daycare. I get everything together the night before - it doesn't take too long to actually change him. I also think getting up earlier and getting yourself ready first helps.

i wouldn't, but if it helps you get out of the house faster you could bring him or her in pj's and change them yourself into clothes before you leave him with the teachers.... that might solve the problem and be more appropriate

I lay out his clothes the night before and get everything packed and ready to go. I get up an hour before. Get myself dressed and anything else I have to do in the morning. DH will usually bring DS and his clothes down in the morning. I will change him and get him in the car by 6:30. I have about a 20 minute ride to his day care because it is closer to my parents house and work in case of emergency. I always get there way before 7am drop off.

When I worked in daycare a lot of parents brought their kids in pjs. It was an extra thing for the staff to do but most didn't mind. It doesn't hurt to ask. I would say a lot of the kids were younger like infants early toddlers most of the older kids generally come dressed.
