There was no waiting time for my new daycare for infants.
For the employee-sponsored daycare (which was $300 less a month than I'm paying now), there was over a year waiting list for non-employees.

We put a deposit down for our daycare for September-their 1st opening, in January! It was weird shopping around still pg, but all the good ones had longgg wait lists.
It might be different in CT than LI, but the good places I found/recommended all had long off availability for infants

We didn't do anything in advance. We wanted Andrew to start in January and called them in December to register. I know some have long wait lists though.

I also started looking while pg, even though i am taking 4 months off.
I put my deposit down 2 weeks ago for April to hold the spot.

I started looking when I was 6 months pregnant. Molly started at 14 weeks old 2 days week.
