Toddler afraid of crib?!
Has anyone ever had their toddler suddenly become extremely afraid of their crib? My 2 1/2 year old had a great routine and out of nowhere fights tooth and nail to get out of the crib for naps and night time. She can climb out so I cant do CIO. I've given her every stuffed animal, light on, music on, my pillow anything you name it. My husband and I are at our witts end trying to function on little to no sleep this week. She wants to sleep on the couch or my bed ( which I am trying my hardest not to bring her in my bed).
For night time last night I laid on the floor next to her crib until she passed out. But then she woke up at 1:30 and wanted to be with DH so they tried sleeping on the couch and she tossed and turned all night and would get up and walk around!
DH thinks there is something wrong with her!?? Shes been doing this all week and we don't know how she is even functioning on lil to no sleep. Is she just being a typical toddler?
She knows deep down that she can really only get comfy in her crib. Ive brought her in my bed in the past and she tosses and turns and I finally just end up putting her back in the crib ( this is last month). If I convert to a toddler bed I'll need an extra tall gate for her doorway because she is superwoman and will climb anything. ( anyone selling an XL gate?) This situation is causing SO MUCH STRESS on Dh and I and towards DD. Not to mention she threw my iphone yesterday and cracked the screen. I hate the way things are right now and especially right before the holidays. I want to be a great mom but its so hard to put on a happy face after these crazy nights. Please help us!!

Toddler afraid of crib?!
Personally I would switch to a big girl bed. I don't even think I would do the gate. at 2.5 she is old enough to learn she can't get up and wonder the house.
We switched my DS at 2 and into a twin. He was so happy because now he had lots of room in bed. We had a gate at the top of the stairs so he wouldn't fall down the stairs (and he is a sleep walker). He did get up a few times in the beginning but we just kept telling him he had to sleep in his bed and stay there unless he was sick

Agree with this. Make a big deal about her big girl bed and she'll probably get really excited.
My child is deathly afraid of the bathtub unless she is sitting in her infant ring. No clue how to remedy that so you're not alone!

typical toddler. shes not afraid of the crib, she just doesn't want to sleep probably! my daughter refuses to nap there now, its so tough

Agreed. We had DD "help us" assemble her toddler bed and it got her so excited about it. I think at that age they realize they are being confined and don't like it. I would switch her and just keep walking her back to her bed if she doesn't stay in it. DD is the same way, she sleeps terribly anywhere but her own bed so when she would go through those phases of not sleeping in there no one got any sleep. She's done really well since switching to the toddler bed at 2.5.

I would switch her to a toddler bed or a twin. We put a doorknob lock on DS's room until he learned that he couldn't come out without knocking and asking for us.
Also, is it possible she's getting molars? Sometimes that really throws them off routine.

Toddler afraid of crib?!
Dd hated her crib to the point she barely slept anywhere. She hates feeling confined. Once they transitioned her to the cot at daycare the sleep difference was amazing. We switched her to.her toddler bed soon after and the transformation was amazing. We gated her bedroom. She sleeps so well and if she gets up early she just plays in her room till she is.ready for her morning milk.
