O.J. Simpson's book "If I Did It" and the Goldman's. Denise Brown's pull out of the show just hours before the taping.

Re: Todays Oprah

I was just going to post about today's show. It seems odd they would want to publish his book, but I can totally understand why they did it. Not only do they get the money (which is hardly anything) to keep him from profiting, but they also took the rights of the book away from him which is something he put a whole lot of time into. This is the only resitution they are getting from him.

ETA: I wonder if now that people know they are the one's profiting from it if people will go and buy the book to help them? I dont think I could bring myself to buy it or read it.

I think it would have looked better for them if they had all the proceeds donated to some kind of charity.

I agree. I thought they were going to say they were donating the money to a abused/battered women's organization, but their not.

I use to work with two Simpson's when I lived in California. His nieces and sister in law.

Why should they donate the money?
If they were to receive the funds from OJ through the civil case should they have donated that also?Chat Icon
And we don't really know what they will be doing with the money, so who knows maybe they will do something privately.

Let's hear what the Brown's have to say. From my understanding is they get nothing from this book deal...

True. They are never going to see a dollar from the civil case. I guess this is their way of collecting money. But I would think if they were going to do something with the money they would have said it on today's show. I dont think they are wrong or right. Everyone probably feels differently about this.

What did you think Marcia and Chris Darden's reactions were to this? What about Oprah's? I feel like in a way they were confused about wanting to publish his book.

ETA: I get the impression Denise Brown pulled out of the interview b/c she didnt agree with this. But we'll see what she says.

She does not agree with the Goldmans.

Re: Todays Oprah

Good for Denise Brown. I actually agree with her and see her side. My question is...I know OJ was originally going to publish the book and they went to court to stop it. So the Goldman's decided after that to publish it on their own or were they forced to by the courts or publishing company?

ETA: I really do feel horrible for those children, but you never really hear about them or see them in the media. I wonder if the media respects their privacy and feels bad for them or if they are ordered to do so by the courts???
