TMI question re: semen
I was on bcp for 10 years. When DH and I would do it, his stuff would obviously leak out for a few hours after.
Now, I'm not on bcp anymore but it still comes out. I usually wear a pantyliner after sex to soak it up.
Is that supposed to happen now that I'm not on bcp? Shouldn't my body be absorbing the stuff?

TMI question re: semen
You will leak out some and you will hold in some. I didn't realize the leaking out until we starting trying because I would lay there with my legs in the air and then feel it start to come out a little while later.
Millions of sperm are released, not all of it comes out, although sometimes it feels that way. Don't worry about it...it's "normal" (I used quotes because that is the most common word used on these boards).

TMI question re: semen
I've never heard of anyone NOT having leakage! It's totally normal and whatever is supposed to stay in there, does.

TMI question re: semen
Birth control does not cause the body not to absorb semen. Birth control (depending on which type you wer on) causes the body either to not ovulate or inhibits implantation.

Re: TMI question re: semen
I think you are just noticing it more now that you are in TTC mode bc it leaks with or without BCP.. Being in IF and driving with my DH's 'sample' to my IUI's, I have noticed that it starts off thick and after a certain amount of time it loosens to a watery consistency. So you prob get more leakage if you are laying around afterwards bc it changes. I don't remember what the nurse calls it. Either way, I still make the mad dash to the bathroom bc it's always a mess!

Re: TMI question re: semen
Semen and sperm are 2 different things. Semen is the liquid that helps the sperm travel.
think of it as a slip n slide. If you ran and slid across a slip n slide...the water would help you get to the other side quickly...but the slide would still be wet when you got to the other side.
BCP has no effect on this either way. It is perfectly normal. It can't hurt to keep your pelvis elevated after BD'ing to let gravity help out a bit. I did that when I got my BFP...but the leaking of semen is not necessarily a loss of sperm...while yes some sperm will leak out...you're still getting a good amount of it.

Re: TMI question re: semen
yes, I agree with the other ladies it's totally normal. Whatever is suppose to go there go there. It only takes one littler guy from the millions that are released.
