Tipping at parties-- WWYD?
We're having DD"s bday party at a bouncy house - I was budgeting about 30 bucks for tips- I figured there would be 2-3 assistants and I would give them $10-$15 each --but I just found out that there would be 7 assistants!!!-- I am def not shelling out $70-$100 plus in tips.
I know its customary to tip the assistants but can I skip the tip? Tip them each $5 bucks?

I don't think you need to tip the assistants. They are the ones who work near the bouncy houses. I'd only tip the hosts. The ones that give out food etc.

Do you really HAVE to tip??? These parties cost hundreds of dollars............you're already paying to have these people run the party, I don't know why you wold need to tip on top of that.

Maybe just give 20% or whatever you were planning to the person who seems to be running the party and let them divide it up as they feel fit. I wouldn't tip individually, that's ridiculous.
eta- I would make it clear to them that it's not just for them. I would say "Thanks so much, everything was great, this is for all of you to split", just so they don't think they can pocket it all. Maybe mention to another assistant or two "I gave your tip to so and so".

I was thinking of doing this (though I had intended on like a total of $ 30-40 in tips when I thought there were 2 people- 20% would be about $150 ) but now I feel like 30 bucks will not go very far to tip 7 people so Im leaning toward opting out of the tip alltogerther.

When we had parties there in the past, I spoke to the manager and she said she would collect the tip and it was split between the people who worked your party. I always gave about $40..

I put the tip on the card when I paid at the end and had them split it. I made a point to say something about it to the staff who helped so they knew to talk to their employer.
