Tightening of the belly?
I have been getting this off and on all day...are these contractions? I dont remember getting this with DS They don't hurt alot but when it happens I feel kind of crampy and gassy if that makes any sense. It lasts for awhile and than goes away.

Re: Tightening of the belly?
Sounds like braxton hicks. They can start in your 2nd trimester. Make sure you are hydrated because dehydration can cause them. If you get more than 6 in an hour I would call the dr.

I am hoping they are the start of contractions...I am due in 10 days.

Re: Tightening of the belly?
I get tightening all day long...it leads to no where. The only reason how I know it's the real thing for me is when the pain starts in the back.

Re: Tightening of the belly?
I've had BH throughout most of my pregnancy. Now in the 3rd tri they hurt a little more but that's what it sounds like. Kinda like you swallowed a basket ball right?

Re: Tightening of the belly?
I had the same thing last week. Along with cramping and pressure...I ended up in L&D for 3 hours....Ended up being nothing....Junior was just in a bad spot....

Re: Tightening of the belly?
I had that the other night. I literally thought my belly was going to explode - it was hard as a rock and I was beyond uncomfortable. I was over at a friends house for a dinner a party and all I wanted to do was lie down but couldn't. I didn't have much pain, just discomfort.
Maybe mine was just gas...

Re: Tightening of the belly?
I have had that on & off too...I remember asking them at the OB's office & they told me the real thing will start in your back & be more like bad menstrual cramping

Re: Tightening of the belly?
i get the tightening, back contracting, and menstrual cramping...sometimes all at once. i told the dr and he told me to start writing down when i get them and if its more than 4 an hour i have to call them asap. so far its been an average of 3 an hour but theres no pattern to when they happen.

I get that you want to go into labor, but you don't want to be dehydrated, that could be bad!
