THURSDAY QOTD
Hello, ladies Hope you're staying warm on this beautiful, sunshine day.
Today's question is about "push presents". I had never even heard of this term until a few months ago (in case you're like me and didn't know, apparently, a push present is a gift you get from your DH after giving birth). I was suprised to learn how many women not only want a push present, but actually expect one.
What are your feelings about push presents? Do you want one? Or expect one? If so, do you have anything in mind?
For me, gifts are always nice, but I certainly don't need or expect a push present. The only thing I would like to eventually get is either an anniversary band or an interlock/enhancer for my engagement ring that has the birthstones of me, DH, SD, and the baby I hope to have.

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
i have only really heard about them on tv shows or something. I don't really know anyone that has gotten them.
I won't expect a push present, but if I did get one that would be lovely Jewelry is always a great gift!!

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
I definitely wouldn't expect one, but I would appreciate one. If I had an option I would love a full day spa certificate. After all that some pampering is necessary.

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
I would actually love something sentimental to represent DC, like a right hand eternity band with the birthstone...and then stack them with each DC...love that idea!

I've never heard of that before. I don't think I'd care about it either way really. Like Ang said, the kid would be enough.

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
Believe it or not, DH knew about this. I was not expecting a thing, but he got me beautiful earrings with DD's birthstone. They are simple but they do mean so much to me.

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
I've heard of it before, my cousin got one. Not so much as a pushing present but more of a new mommy present I would like some form of a mommy necklace.

ditto on that! i think dh would be so traumatized by all that would've happened that he'd probably need the push present instead

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
i don't necessarily want a push present but i do want newborn photos. i think dh might when it comes time for it so i might try to pass that off as a "push present"

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
Im the last of my friends & family to have a child so, I have heard of it before. Some mommy's got one some, some did not. Some wanted one, some did not.
I am a fan of the push present but also believe that Daddy should get a present too. I already told DH what I would want for a present and when we finally get our BFP, I'll start to save for his present.

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
I guess I'm in the big minority here, but my sister and SILs and close friends have all gotten "push presents" so I know DH will get me something....most likely jewlery and I will be very happy to accept!

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
I hate the term "push present" and I hate that it's become something to be expected now. Towards the tail end of my first pregnancy, DH bought me a Keurig coffeemaker because he knew how badly I wanted one (he doesn't drink coffee, so I never bothered to make a pot). He said to consider it a thank you gift for carrying his child for 9 months . I was so touched and thought it was so sweet and thoughtful. I would never have expected anything for "pushing the baby out" and I never will in the future. As other have said, the baby is gift enough for both of us IMO.

Same here... Most of my friends have gotten jewelry. I didn't really want anything when I had DD, so I got the next best thing-- a handbag!
Honestly, my daughter is gift enough-- but, it's nice to get a nice gift for a special occasion. And what's more special than a baby?

Re: THURSDAY QOTD
think i only started to hear of it on LIF, or tv also... never IRL. dh would neverrr think of that so i'm certainly not expecting it. would i consider it thoughtful and be over-the-moon appreciative if he did something like that? for sure.

I've never heard of a push present before LIF. I wouldn't be opposed to it but it's not a necessity.
