Thread Responses

Do you actually read through the responses to a thread? Do you read all of the responses or do you just look for certain people's responses? Do you just respond and not really care what anyone else has to say?

If I am going to respond I will usually read through - or at least skim through - the other responses. If I am not going to respond I will normally look to see how particular people responded. Curious to see what everyone elses MO is.

ETA: Are you interested in other people's responses? Like "what's your favorite color, flower, etc.." Do you look at those answers? IF you ASK the question, do you look at all the answers?

Re: Thread Responses

i read through every response and if i dont have time i will come back to it later before i respond

i honestly feel like some people read the thread TITLE and not even the first post and then respond to what they THINK it is going to be about - that can be the only explanation to some of the responses that I read sometimes LOL

Re: Thread Responses

I read all the responses. That does not influence my answer but at least I know the development of the conversation and don't miss an "update" on page 2 or 3 from the OP.

Re: Thread Responses

It depends. If the thread is just asking "What do YOU do...", I might not read many of them, since my response doesn't rely on anyone else's response. For example, in the Home section, there's a thread "Do you have a garage." My response doesn't reflect, add to, comment on, or have any effect on anyone else's response. No matter what anyone else has, I still have no garage.

Up to two pages, I'll always read all the responses. Depending on the topic, I may read all 10 pages, or just the first two, then add my response. I always read at least the first two pages worth.

I read the whole thread if it interests me. I usually read the first couple of people's responses and if nothing attracts my attention, I stop.

If it's an intense debate, I read them all. There's nothing worse than someone rehashing on page 10 what was resolved on page 2. Chat Icon

Re: Thread Responses

If it's already 3 pages or more by the time I get to it, then I try to read it all but usually skim most of it just to be sure i'm not going to repeat someone word for word.

If I start a thread, I read every single post and try to respond also.

Depends on the question. If someone is asking a personal opinion such as "what's your initials" I just post my reply.

If it is a thread asking for advice, a debate, etc I will try to read majority of the posts prior to responding.

If I am asking the question, I read every response.

Me too. I think this is why my post count isn't higher. Sometimes by the time I get to the end of all of the responses in a thread, I just don't bother responding.
