those with older DC's that were once extreeemely active toddlers

Did they EVER mellow out? When???

We were at the beach the other day (I have witnesses Chat Icon) and I had to be on top of her incessantly. A complete stranger noticed this and said that when she finally goes to bed every night I must sit with a glass of wine.Chat Icon

And don't get me started about going out to dinner last nightChat Icon

Is there hope? She has no boundaries. None.Chat Icon

Yes, and DS has no fear. The other day he jumped on the coffee table and lunged foward to jump on the couch. I almost had a heart attack. I can't leave his for a split second.

Yikes!!!!

She kept running into the ocean and would've kept going!!!!

I think an invisible fence for toddlers needs to be introduced.Chat Icon Chat Icon

yes - they do slow down, but they are still crazy in their own way.

#1 started slowing down just before 5 I guess

#2 is 4 and is starting to slow down.

and when I say slow down, I mean that I am not clinging onto them b/c they will dart out in front of traffic.

ETA: they still jump from furniture to furniture, chase each other like madmen, etc.

I also feel like the trampoline has helped.

YES! They slow down.

My son was CRAZY! never stopped moving and was always getting into trouble doing and getting into things he shouldn't. .he used to be birth control for some of my friends Chat Icon

Now at almost 7 (Chat Icon ) he is a little man.. he is totally chill and he has his moments but his energy is directed towards something like a sport or activity, rather than just because..

Ds will be 3 but he has been crazy active since conception! He moves all day long, even sitting he is a wiggle worm and fidgets ! He never sits still he drives me nuts, but at least now he understands no running from me, jumping on furniture etc.

Around 3, somewhat!Chat Icon He actually has morning where he's downright sluggish now, but that was never the case when he was littler.

OMG I am having the same experience!

I actually made an appt with the pediatrician this morning and was grilling him about ADHD and I think he thought I was a little nuts.

Everyone I know who are teachers though say he is being developmentally appropriate, he is just a very challenging child and it's more his "personality" than anything else.

For the record, DH also has a similar personality as DS so I guess this is inherited!

I am home with him on Fridays and he is napping now thank goodness, but this morning has been super challenging to say the least!

My dd is 2 as well, and she has been active since she was able to walk. She climbs, runs, jumps and she will just go head first into a wall if she is too tired. I never thought I was going to be a mom with a leash on her child and now I am. She is fast and runs from me. Im hoping for some good answers lol she has gotten more hyper in the past six months.Chat Icon

Hmmm. I feel a song coming on Chat Icon

They say it gets better. Yep. That's what they say. I'm not necessarily buying it.

Yeah, she has to get it from somewhere. God I hate genetics. Yet I was never ever ever this bad, according to my mom.

Colette, maybe I should record that song of yours.;--Chat Icon no truer words have been written.

Re: those with older DC's that were once extreeemely active toddlers

at 5, at 7 ... at 8 and it didn't mellow out??... Chat Icon ... seriously, I'm so scared Chat Icon

my crazy 17m was climbing with a 5 and 7 year old today. I was terrified he climb that high, I'm afraid of heights!!!!! He copied them exactly, every jump, move... then he hung from monkey bars and started swinging at 17m ... I'm terrified for the future, I'm so not the athletic type.

I think though, I discovered a little "trick" today...
I noticed that when we went to my parents they had the CAC at 68 degrees and it was chilly, he seems so calm there. So I'm going to have to freeze him if I need a break... Chat Icon
