Those with 3 kiddies (or more!)

I've heard two theories...after 2 kiddies you can just add more bc you're already busy, crazed etc so what's one more?

OR

The third put the family/couple over the edge.

What was your reality?

Re: Those with 3 kiddies (or more!)

I have 3 and going from 1-2 was much easier than 2-3. I find having 3 hard because I needed to adjust to having 2 hands for 3 kids but I think having more from this point would be easy considering I already know how to functioning having more kids than hands Chat Icon
I think adding more after 3 is easy IMO

I feel like after the second one it was a cake walk with each additional child. Going from 1-2 is so much harder than 2-3.

Going from 1-2 was not nearly as difficult for me as it was going from 0-1. This is good to hear though because DH and I would like to start TTC # 3 summer of 2014.

In our case:

1 was a hobby.
Having 2 kept us busy.
3 has been rough...but more so due to his personality. (As his teachers state, he's "willful." Chat Icon )

Based on a recent survey done by the Today Show, I'm hoping #4 relieves the stress of having 3. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I never went from 1-2 since I have twins.

But I will say..everyone would say to me "oh twins are so hard" and I never thought that. Yes something things were harder than having one I am sure but I never felt out of control.

Going from 2 to 3 has had it's moments. There are times when my house is complete insanity! Baby screaming while I chase 2 naked kids around the house trying to get them in their pjs but I wouldn't change it for the world Chat Icon When people ask me how it is I say "crazy but fun". I am however...DONE!!!

I found going from 1-2 to be a breeze. #3 is much harder. I'm not sure if its being out numbered or my second two being close in age though.

I'd say it's a little of both things you mentioned Chat Icon

My three are now 7.5, 6, and 2.5. The first 15 months or so were great! Very easy adjustment. My third child was the best baby ever!

After that, I was sent right over the edge. I am a SAHM and I love my one on one time with my little guy; that's not a problem...he's very easy individually, I mean despite the fact that he's two Chat Icon Once his big sisters come home after school, all hell breaks loose. There is a lot of fighting, a lot of screaming, a lot of "Stooooooooopppppppp! I'm telling!" and then some nice interaction about 33.3% of the time. There's a lot of silent 'Shut the f#%* ups' whilst locked in my bathroom. In public, I feel like I'm constantly corralling people...I'm like a freakin shepherd! Chat Icon And then of course, there's the constant in and out to various activities...soccer, piano, dance, etc. with a toddler in tow who wants to do everything "by myself!!" The latest being shutting car doors in which case "by myself!" includes getting several fingers stuck in said doors. Shall I go on? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

This was great (and so true)! LOL.

The adjustment to 2 was much harder to three for me esp early on. I think it all depends on the baby. Baby #1 wasn't easy (colic, digestive issues, clingy as he got older, needed 100% play with me time, hated tv) but a fun, happy toddler. #2 was a miserable baby - screamed for 9 mos and then a maniac toddler who never followed directions. Now at almost 6 - a pretty easy going kids to my surprise. The easiest of my 3 kids. #2 made me not want to have another baby and thus the 3.5 yrs age difference. #3 was a good/my easiest baby. The transition to #3 wasn't too bad (outside a poor infant being dragged everywhere). She is a maniac at 2 and very strong willed and a lot of what was posted above rang true but still all in all not so bad. I think it may get harder when she is more involved in stuff. Right now I have a 6 and 8 yr old with very busy activities...I can't imagine adding more to my after school schedule as I have no help with any of it!

Those with 3 kiddies (or more!)

I had #1 as a single mom... I was ok.

#2 came along when DS was 6. She was a tough baby, but we were ok. Not a bad adjustment.

#3 came along when the others were 8 and 3.5. Holy shit, was it bad. I had no time for anyone... I was a giant walking hormone. I handled nothing well. My marriage suffered badly in that first 18 months... thankfully we were able to fix it.

Now, 4 years later, we are great. I manage 3 well, most days. But going from 2-3 was the tough one for us.
