Those who have taken the glucose (1 hour)

I have my test at 12:15 today. My dr said eat normally, I dont have to fast at all just dont eat candy or anything obviously. I had 2 eggs this morning already and now I'm still starving and know I wont be able to eat until after the test, probably around 2 by the time I get out of there. For those who didnt fast and ate normally, did you pass or fail and do you think it had anything to do with what you ate that day? I know its a blood sugar test so its testing the sugar in my blood, but I'm just getting worried, and I really want cereal right now!

Eat your cereal!!! I did not fast and I passed with flying colors!!! Eat!!!! You dont' want to feel sick!!!

what you eat has little to NO bearing on your test results. as you said - it's your BLOOD they are testing and your blood isn't something that 'changes' based on what you eat. you either have GD or you don't!

I had my test after work...I ate what I would usually eat the whole day, but I did have to stop eating/drinking 1 hr before I had to drink the drink...so if you don't have any rule like that to follow, I would eat the cereal!

Ok, thank you so much! I just get paranoid with the carbs and sugar and stuff. I figured I had to ask to feel better! THank you!!

I had mine at 3:30 after a full day of work.

That day I ate everything I normally eat, including a big chocolately brownie and candy corn

I passed!

Can I bring and drink water at all while I'm waiting or will I get yelled at? lol

With my DS I ate like they said I could and I falied - by like 2 points. Passed the 3 hour test PERFECTLY. This time around I made my appointment at 9am and am eating nothing from 7pm the night before. A few of my friends had the same situation and when they did this they passed. I'll let you know next week since I take mine tomrrow. Good luck! Worst thing that can happen is you have to take the 3 hr I'm sure you are fine though! Most people are - I just think some people have slower metabolisms than others so they break it down different in that 1hr period....

I didn't have to fast for my 1 hour either. My appt. wasn't until 2:30 in the afternoon.

For breakfast I had some Cheerios and a small cup of coffee (1 sugar). And for lunch I actually had a burger and french fries. I passed !

I don't think what you eat will really make a major difference. I had a friend who ate a ton of candy and soda before her test and passed. Someone else I knew tried to avoid sugary foods for like the whole week before and failed and had to do the 3 hour.

I fasted and failed and passed the three hour with flying colors (and ate before it).

Had my test at 9:30 and ate eggs and cheese for breakfast.. I wasnt allowed to drink water during the test...I passed with a number of 98 really dont think what you eat affects the test unless you eat a ton of sweets

Okay, I just got back, and I was not allowed to drink water either during the test and I had to sit there the entire time too. I hope I passed, I'll find out in a couple days. Oh, and I did have that cereal before I went too!
