Those who have been looking...
What's a realistic time frame to find a house you love?
We are getting offers and have a ton more showings and haven't even started really looking yet... and we are freaking out because this all hasn't had time to process. We just don't feel ready and are worried we won't be able to find something.

Re: Those who have been looking...
This is why we are moving in with my parents for a while, so we can house hunt without pressure to settle for a house we don't love. It will be very tight at their house but so worth it!
Do you maybe have somewhere you can move temporarily? OR you could negotiate a longer time before you close.

Re: Those who have been looking...
we have someone who if the numbers are right, our realtor thinks we can get a 90 to 100 day closing. I assume that will be enough time. They are on a month-to-month lease, so they have flexibility.
But, who knows what will happen with new people who see the place. We have scheduled showings for tomorrow, and they only come a day in advance-- so I assume we'll have more all week.
I know we are lucky, but so far 50% of those who have seen our place, have made offers.

wow that is a great problem to have!!! awesome news! good luck on your search, when you find the place, you'll know! when we were buying the house we're in now it was the FIRST one we looked at, I saw a bunch of others, but I knew this house had the most potential right off the bat. start to finish, the whole process was about 3 months. we saw this house first, and THEN put my old house (actually was my parents house) up for sale, a little backwards, but that was in '05, so houses were on the market for less time in general.
good luck, take a deep breath and try to analyze each house with a clear head and not thinking about any pressure of closing dates for your house.....congrats on the offers so far!

Re: Those who have been looking...
We have been looking for about 2 years. But we are putting our home on the market no matter what, within the next few mths and going to take it as it comes. We plan to move to an apt if we haven't found what we are looking for by the time our house closes. We too expect a very quick sale and many offers, based on our area, home, etc.
