Re: Those who had Miscarriages

Every doctor has their own theory as to when you can try again. My doctor wanted me to wait two cycles, but I started trying after my first AF. I do not believe there is any evidence that not waiting increases your chance of another m/c, but I personally would rather at least get the first AF so if I did get pg, it would be easy to determine a due date based on last AF, and I would know for sure if I tested on an HPT that it was the real thing and not leftover hormone from the m/c. If you got pg before the first AF, would it be horrible? Probably not. That is why there are sonos, they could determine your due date. For me, I just felt that I wanted to allow my body to adjust back to a somewhat normal state.

Best of luck to you and sorry for your loss.

I m/c on Oct 20. My doctor told me we can try again but to wait 1 - 2 cycles. He said some woman get pregnant even before their cycle and their are no issues but it is best to wait b/c it gives your body time to heal. We waited 1 cycle.

Im so sorry you have to go through this. Sadly, so many of us have been through it too.

It was easier for me to wait because I wanted my body to heal. It also allowed DH and i to have a break and be free from pressure to do things on certain days. It gave me a break from temping and charting and allowed me to get a decent night's sleep.

I waited too. I needed to heal emotionally and physically.

Re: Those who had Miscarriages

I had to wait 6 months due to a molar pregnancy. Now imagine that! 2 months will fly by. It really is better for you and you rnext pregnancy if you wait. My girlfriend refused to wait and I believe that is what caused her to have the second m/c. After that one she waited 2 months and now has her beautiful baby Chat Icon

Let your body heal and prepare itself to carry another pregnancy. Many have not waited and gone on to full term but its not worth the risk IMO. My friend suffered so much with the second m/c. It will be over before you know it! I know the waiting is hard. Believe me.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I m/c on December 5, and my dr. told me to wait 1 cycle. I'm looking at it as though I get some time to de-stress about it. No temping or charting or POAS for a month. I could use the break. Plus with the holidays, and my whole family here for a week Chat Icon I don't need the added pressure this holiday season. I'm hoping AF makes an appearnce early-mid January, and then we'll start again. I know it's hard, and sometimes I'm worried about "missing an opportunity" but give your body time to heal. Hang in there! We're all here for you.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Those who had Miscarriages

My Dr told me one normal cycle(I had a natural m/c though. After my D&C I waited 3 months to try again, but that was because we were going through another treatment. I think 2months is sound advice for a D&C because they scrape the lining of your uterus. It is important for implantation that your lining is a certain thickness.

Re: Those who had Miscarriages

I had a m/c in november. The Dr. also told me to wait two cycles. I had a hard time dealing with the m/c and I felt that as much as I wanted to try right away, it would be a good idea to not only let my bosy heal but try to heal emotionally as well. I didn't want to try and "replace" the baby I lost but try to have another child. Not sure if that makes sense. Right now I feel good about it. I'm eating healthy and goign to the gym more and trying to take care of myself. In all reality 2 months won't make a huge difference but letting my mind and body heal can make a big difference. This is just my view. Everyone is different. Do what you feel you need to do.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Those who had Miscarriages

I didn't.

I miscarried at about 7 weeks. My doc told me to wait 2-3 months, but when he told me this, unbeknownst to both of us, I was already pregnant again. I conceived about one week after my m/c.

When I went back in to see him he reassured me there is no higher chance of m/c when you conceive immediately after an m/c, and that the only reason why they recommend you wait is (1) so that you're emotionally ready, (2) so they can accurately date the pregnancy, and (3) because it's an old way of thinking.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Re: Those who had Miscarriages

My RE suggested 2 cycles b/f doing another transfer, and I can honestly write that I was looking forward to a few months of no stress, no early morning dashes to the office! I had the D&C in Sept. and decided to wait until after the new year to do the transfer.
