Those that nursed to sleep....
My baby is almost 11 months. He nurses to sleep. I made this mistake myself, and I know that, but I need help stopping it now. How did you stop nursing to sleep?? I want to stop nursing altogether within the next 4 weeks. I feel like I can't! He also still wakes up sometimes to nurse. I feel like if I can get him off nursing to sleep he will sleep better throughout. Help!

I started removing him from he boob and laying down when he was showing signs of drowsy but not asleep. Sometimes if he fell asleep, I would gently wake him slightly by burping him or moving him, then laying him down. Hope this helps!

Those that nursed to sleep....
I nursed to sleep until he was 12 months 1 week old and then I couldn't take it anymore. I had to do CIO. Luckily, he only cried for about 5-10 minutes that first night and then settled down. He whined every night we put him down for about 4 months for 1-5 minutes once I stopped nursing him to sleep.
I also changed up his routine. I nurse him, brush his teeth, and then we put on his bedtime music together and then I place him in bed.

I didn't nurse to sleep much but when dd2 started getting into that habit I changed the routine. Nursed earlier, then quiet play, bath, books, song, and bed. She'd cry a few minutes the first few nights but then was fine. Unfortunately it didn't help her sleep better at night.

Re: Those that nursed to sleep....
You just kind of have to start. Make a bedtime routine and stick to it. Feeding has to be about 20 mins (or more) before bedtime. Feeding has to be at the beginning of the routine. Maybe breast, bath, PJs, story, song, bed.
You may have a few rough nights, but babies adjust. Also make sure you aren't nursing to sleep for naps.

We have tried this and have run into the same thing where even if she falls asleep on her own (not nursing to sleep) it doesn't help her night time waking at all. Any solutions

I followed the No Cry Sleep Solution book. Took some time but worked.

Re: Those that nursed to sleep....
Thanks everyone! I'll try changing the routine. He doesn't need to nurse before naps because he's with my sister in law mon-fri. So I know he can do it. I wish dh could handle it, otherwise I would try not being around for bedtime and see if that works, but dh gives up after like 5-10 mins
