If you nursed DC to sleep
If you nursed DC to sleep and then weaned him/her, how did you get them to sleep? I'm not weaning just yet, but I need DS (14mos) to learn how to fall asleep on his own without ferberizing or CIO. It makes it a little more difficult I think because we cosleep.

Re: If you nursed DC to sleep
At this point how many times a day do you still nurse? I would gradually cut down nursing only once a day over a few weeks. Is your DS getting milk too? I would start to transition to a sippy of milk and then a sippy of water as milk before bed can rot teeth.
Then you can transition from co-sleeping to his own bed. Although you did not ask about co-sleeping I would transition sooner than later as with everything it becomes much much harder to transition when they are older. I would get a crib for your room at first to get him used to being in his own bed and then move it to his room. Good luck.

Thanks for your response. I'm not weaning for at least another 6 months, maybe longer. I'm just wondering if there was a way I can get him to learn to fall asleep on his own other than the nursing & rocking to sleep.

Re: If you nursed DC to sleep
Don't know how open you are to this, but I would probably try to get him into his own bed first. It will make night weaning a lot easier.
E still nurses before bed, but I put him down before he falls asleep now so he is just groggy and relaxed and then goes to sleep on his own. I started this a few months ago and now he goes to sleep at night without a peep. He sits up when I put him in his crib, blows me a kiss, wraps his blanket around him and I don't hear from him till morning.
