Those of you with split style homes....

What do you do???

We are going into contract on a split that has 4 sets of stairs. Do I use 4 gates, or do I just teach Brody to go up and down? Three of the 4 sets of steps only have 4 steps.

How do you do it? What type of gate do you have?

Re: Those of you with split style homes....

We have a front to back split with lots of steps! I wanted DD to be safe, but didn't want ugly gates throughout my house. I HIGHLY recommend retract-a-gate.com we used these retractable gates for my den and at the top of my stairs (yes they are safe and can be used there.) When not in use, nobody even knows we have gates in those places. When they are in use, they are a really nice tan color that matches my decor perfectly! They are EXCELLENT quality!
For the middle level where the two staircases meet, we bought a configuregate from buybuybaby that works perfectly for that area. I was very anxious about the gate situation too and it's worked out perfectly!

We have 2 sets with 6 steps and 1 set that has like 10 steps (to the basement).

We have/had gates at the top of the 3. The good thing is she learned how to use them very early. We removed 2 of them and I keep the one on the basement steps just bc its a long flight.
