Those of you that work full time
How long are you planning on taking off for and will you be getting paid?

Re: Those of you that work full time
12 weeks to keep my job and benefits and no I will not get paid with the exception of disability.
ETA: I was also told that I must send in $50/month to make sure I maintain my benefits while I am on leave. That is what I pay now - $25 per pay check. No biggie.

Re: Those of you that work full time
i plan on working till the end, if possible. i get 12 weeks FMLA, all of which is unpaid. i will go back to work after that, not sure if i will go back part time or full time (i have to request to go back PT from our program director).
ETA: i do not qualify for disiability, not sure why, but that's what HR told me.

Re: Those of you that work full time
I will have a bit more than 12 weeks...I have to use my sick/personal time to get paid, but my insurance will still be paid...I will go back full time after that...

Re: Those of you that work full time
I'm going to work as long as I can. My company doesn't have any maternity benefits, so I'll be getting disability for 6 weeks.
DH and I want to find a way for me to stay home for at least a year, it'll be tough financially, hopefully I'll be able to work part-time from home.
I really wish the U.S. would catch up with the rest of the world when it comes to maternity benefits.

Re: Those of you that work full time
I get one month off prior to my due date. Then 6 weeks or 8 weeks off after the delivery- vag birth vs. c-section. This is all paid leave. Then I am planning on taking 4 weeks vacation time which will be paid as well.

It might not be half pay; from the website:
The benefit rate is 50 percent of the employee’s last eight weeks average gross wages with a maximum benefit of $170 per week.

my friend and i were just discussing this the other day - she pointed out that mother and the elderly really get the shaft in the US when it comes to employment and benefits

I have a month of vacation left so I will probably use about 3 weeks of that beforehand. Then I get 18 weeks paid leave.

I believe that's if you file for NYS disability.
Some employers offer their own disability benefit pay schedule.
Like my company offers for natural births - 4 weeks full pay, 2 weeks 60%; c-section - 4 weeks fully pay, 4 weeks 60%

Re: Those of you that work full time
I am taking 12 weeks off.
2 weeks sick 3 weeks vacation 4 weeks at 75% pay 3 weeks unpaid
If I have a c-section, then it is 6 weeks at 75% pay and 1 week unpaid.

Re: Those of you that work full time
Im taking at least 12
I get 6 weeks of full pay from my company. Then I can use vacation and sick time if I want (I have about 2 weeks of that saved) Then I will get short term diasability - 80% of my salary for about 4 weeks, plus NYS disability on top of that.
I want to take an extra month off because I have to fly to Cali during that month for my brothers wedding so I wont get paid either way since I wont have any time left. Might as well be home then! I have been saving money like crazy the liast few months! I have saved at least a month and a half of pay. I hope to have 3 whole months of pay saved by the time I give birth in August

I thought she was referring to NYS disability because she said she would not be paid, but I could be mistaken - it wouldn't be the first time

I am taking 12 weeks. FL does not have a maternity leave so I am going out on Short term Disability and I believe it's full pay.
