I feel for Deja. Deja’s mom didn’t abandon her, she is giving her the better life she has failed to provide. Deja loved her mom and isn’t just going to feel happy and grateful to be in a new home. While she is living the better life and having appetizers at a wedding she knows her mother is probably sleeping in a near or worse. How can she possibly be happy knowing her mom is in a bad situation? How could Randall and Beth just expect her to be happy when she is constantly worrying about her mom? When the mom mentions Deja’s father she probably freaks because of her own deadbeat dad that may never have been around. If he was remotely in the picture perhaps her mom could have made the bills to keep them together. To her, the Pearsons have just had it so damn easy. While Randal and Beth are relieved Deja is safe they don’t seem to acknowledge the tremendous loss and anxiety Deja must be feeling. I would be smashing up some fancy car myself.
I agree! It bothered me that Beth was complaining about her attitude/behavior. Cut the girl some slack! Her mother just left her.

Since she’s a kid Deja might not realize it, but her mother abandoned her the day she was born. Yes she was physically living in the same location, but she was certainly never worried about her daughters well-being. Leaving her home alone at 3 years old...using their rent money to bail her deadbeat bf out of jail...I know it’s her mom but she was a crappy mom from day one.

it was Toby and his Dad ... i think his dad dies and sends him into a depression
with Old Randall and Adult Tess it focuses on Beth dancing and then to Deja ... I think Beth is either sick or dead not Deja
I like to remember that this is the show This is Us and if we think it will happen then it will be the opposite of what we think
I totally think it has something to doth Beth as well - she's not been in any of the "future" scenes.
And NOTHING is ever what is seems with this show. Having Deja in jail is too obvious. 
Yes, it could be Beth, but I also want to know what Annie is up to in the future? We have only seen Tess at work, so it its't odd that Beth & Annie aren't there, but it leave so much open.
I also think Toby is battling depression.
And I want to know what Kevin learned about Jack that made him go to Viet Nam? (they did say that's where the flight was to, right?). Something about Jack's brother?
ugh this damn show. 
My question is where did the picture come from? In the episode when we first saw that picture it was in the garage of the house. And they seemed to have lost everything in the fire
Also we never found out how they got the cabin. I am wondering if when Jack's Dad died if they got the cabin as part of his estate. Just thinking that the picture could have been in the cabin like the Dad had a copy of it
When Jack went back int eh house, he grabbed a box of important things-a photo album, Kate's video tape. . . maybe it was in there?

I agree, I also believe Randell and Tess are talking about Deja, that's why we know the kind of job Tess has when she grows up...because of Deja. I think Deja's attitude towards life completely and ultimately turned for the worse when her mom gave up her parental rights and she was told she looked like Randall. It's sad if this is what ends up being because she was a sweet girl with good intentions. Also I def think Tony has severe depression issues in the future and what made me think that was the part when Katie says to him that the dr needs to adjust his meds. I absolutely cannot wait for the new season and I hope that the rumors of Mandy Moore exiting the show are not true!!!

There is definitely something up with Dan Lauria playing Toby's dad. Jack was his character on the Wonder Years, and he is relatively young when he dies. I don't know if it was just a tip-of-the-hat or foreshadowing.

They didn't really expand on the story line with the boy in foster care. They did flashes to his story but ended when they said they got placement for him. I wonder where that fits in.

I don’t think that scene was focused on the little boy (although they made it be that way and wanted us to believe it), the twist was about Tessa being that social worker.

It wasn't supposed to be a story line. It was a flash forward. Grown up Tess is a social worker and she was his client. It was to let us know that Adult Tess becomes a social worker.
