This is in my backyard. If you dont like spiders dont look.
It is huge!! The bugs here in VA are HUGE!!. This thing gives me the creeps but its not harmful to humans from what I have found out. Image Attachment(s):

Its called a Black & Yellow Garden Spider or the correct name is Argiope Aurantia.

that is big. to make you feel better in Australia they have huuuge spiders and i did not know this. imagine my surprise when i walked in to THIS, on my kitchen counter. i thought it was a toy, then my roommate said oh that is just a huntsman. this picture is just a BABY. shown next to a hand to give you an idea. it isnt poisonous and they kill other bugs so they are good. it is the poisonous spiders that you have to watch out for....

I live on LI, but near a park (actually the park is my bac & side yard. Sometimes we get spiders that are bigger than our hand - and not those skinny daddy long legs either. Full-on hairy Wolf spiders

That's huge! I found a big nasty one on my sunflowers the other day - there are always bees around them and one of them was dangling from the web, all sewn up. It was so gross! But strangely fascinating at the same time!!  nature at work!

OMG! I have the same one in my front yard. It's HUGE and the belly gets bigger and bigger once it's done feeding. My daughter loves to look at it everyday My neighbor also has one in his backyard.
i'm in GA, so it must be a southern spider, LOL
