Things I have learned while on maternity leave...
As I near the end of my leave, I have to reflect upon my experiences being home. I have not spent this much time without collecting a paycheck in my entire life. Here are some disoveries of mine:
1) Thanks to Maury Povich, a woman can have 5 possible fathers for her baby.
2) A person can walk around with bags of peas and cabbage leaves as a bra and nobody will throw salad dressing on her.
3) "Style by Jury" is a KILLER show! WHERE have I been?
But most of all, I have learned that time with my little girl at home is way too short and I don't know how I will go 9 hours a day without looking at her smile:

Re: Things I have learned while on maternity leave...
here's a good one:
I was weaning this summer, had cabbage leaves on for a week.
I took Josh to the little ymca pool every morning...I get my bathing suit on, but I really never "swim"/just play in water with him.
So, I stick cabbage in swimsuit.
Get on bike, we ride to pool.
Normally I go into restroom, take leaves out...this morning I forgot to.
Go in pool.
15 minutes later, a kid next to me is asking his mom why there is seaweed in pool??????
there is the cabbage, floating in the water...(I wear a t-shirt for sun protection, so I never saw leaves come out of bathing suit.)

I think I may BF Ryan for his entire life to avoid the cabbage experience

1)For a country so fascinated with "Family Values" our attitude toward maternity leave really S*CKS.
2)Never lend your boyfriend money or get him a cell phone with the understanding he'll pay the bills, you'll end up in front of Judge Joe Brown

Now THAT is funny. Why does the cabbage have to smell so damn bad though? It gives a new meaning to having a HOT chest. After 30 minutes, all I need is a nice piece of corned beef and DH and I have dinner! Think how economical it would be to NOT have to run the stove. Just slap it on my body and we are good to go!

What's funny is that I only started watching this week. I was so busy running around for her party and BFing, it just never worked out for me to sit and watch. Now she naps more often and longer so here I am with my new "nature bra" watching a world I never really knew existed.

Abby
The show i got addicted to while on leave was "What Not to Wear". I miss my daily fix of Stacey and Clinton.......
It was a bit depressing when I saw a woman who was very much like me in terms of what she wore to work and I realized I could be a candidate for the show, though.

I am going to guess that either the show pays these people very well or gives them a lot of swag to appear. Why else would anyone want to tell the world that they sleep around so much that they cannot ID their child's father? Either that or they know jack poo about the window of opportunity and how a baby is created.

I'd love to be on that show (as long as it did not actually air). I need a makeover desperately. Problem is, I want one that doesn't require that much effort.

oh i know exactly what you mean!! i tape every single episode of this show just so i have something to watch when i am BFing luca, and then i get depressed because i don't have $5000 for a whole new wardrobe... but then i think i wouldn't want new clothes until i lose all my baby weight... and that depressed me even more...
it's a vicious cycle!
leslie i know how badly it will suck having to go back to work but we can commiserate together on LIF.
