They only talk to you when they need something...
Do you have friends or family that are like this? How do you deal with them?
For some reason this week must be "I need something from Sandra week". I've gotten calls from three different family members this week that I rarely talk to asking me for something. One of them I haven't spoken to since he was a no-show at my wedding last year yet he had the nerve to call me up and ask for a favor almost 1 year to the day later.

I just kind of avoid them until they stop calling.
If they are persistent and it's something we don't want to do, lend $, etc then I get to blame DH if it's my side and he blames me if it's his side

I have friends like that but it doesn't really bother me as long as I feel that I'm not being taken advantage of ....
I assume that everyone is busy with their own lives these days & has as little time as I have to catch up. If I can help them out, I do. I help out strangers all of the time, so friends rank higher.

I ignore their phone calls. If they happen to catch me in person, I'll say I don't have the time.

Yes, FH's grandmother is this way- she lives literally right down the block from us- and she only calls us when she needs something. Then she complains to FH's mom (her daughter) that we never come to see her.
I just ignore her or laugh it off when she does this.

another person i know, will ONLY contact me when they need something! and because i haven't learned my lesson yet, I still offer help and/or give advice. Well, not anymore. They can go scratch a Camels-Azz for all i care!!
