The sketchy looking massage parlors.

I notice more and more popping up and the ones that have the entire windows covered with pics of flowers and people getting massaged looks so creepy.

Do you know what I mean? Like you can't even see into the windows because they are wrapped with these images.
Those places look particularly sketchy. I have never had a massage and have never been, but if I did, I would likely go to massage envy or a good spa.

My question here ... Does anyone here go to those creepy-looking places? Is it NOT creepy? Maybe my assessment is wrong. Someone must be going because they are staying in business and keep opening in different places.

I go to one in my town and it is AMAZING.
Not shady or creepy at all.
The windows aren't covered though... it's legit looking.

I have to say, I go for "real" massages a lot, but these places are good in a pinch. And for like $30 you get an hour massage, foot massage, reflexology all in one.

It's not the same as a sweedish massage, you keep your clothes on, they massage you over your clothes, but man is it good and I walk out of there SO relaxed and the price can't be beat.


HOwever, there are some that have been shut down near me for shady activities.
But you can always tell those- like you said, the covered windows ,etc. One by me was running ads online saying, "get rubbed by pretty young girl" etc, and had pictures of really slutty looking women.
I mean, come on!

That one was shut down shorter after.

Hmmm I wonder if that's the one this girl was telling me about - they rub you over your clothes and you're in a room with a lot of people?

I rarely get mani/pedis (fungus fears!) but when I have, I almost always deny the massage from the guy who lingers around to rub people. And he's always surprised because I don't think he's used to hearing no.

The last time I went he asked and I said "I'm good, thanks". So he started to rub me because I guess he interpreted that differently. just a bunch of awkward. Story of my life.

my boyfriend is a police officer - most of the shady looking ones are front for prostitution and whatnot. a lot of them get investigated and shut down.

Im a member of Massage Envy and still frequent these 'sketchy' places- only because i like to get 1 massage a week and it can get costly going to Massage Envy. Even though they look sketchy, all of the ones i have been to are totally fine... I sometimes go with my husband as well and have never had any problems.

When I was pregnant and overdue with ds1 my mom suggested I go for a foot massage because it can induce labor she heard. There was one of these places right down the street so I said I would go. She called and made an appointment for me. I was hesitate but was desperate. I get there and the door is locked you have to ring a bell for them to open it. I turned right around! Toooo sketchy for me.

I love getting massages. I go to my local nail salon for foot/shoulder massage along with a mani/pedi. I love high end spas like the Mandarin Oriental. I actually like my massage girl at the no frills Asian spa the most. I do not think my no frills spa is sketchy. I used to go to a similar place in Manhattan called Graceful Spa in the UES.

I had a client who got arrested and the cop stopped off at a massage parlor bust because they needed more cars to take people in. It was the one funny thing about that day.
