The sad thing is................................................

..................................had the Democrats put up ANYONE other than Hillary OR had she been more likable and respected the FACT is, they would've WIPED THE FLOOR with Trump. It wouldn't even have been a race, AT ALL. This lunatic won simply by consequence, not because he was the "better man for the job" and not even because the "people have spoken" because the FACT is, he actually did LOSE the popular vote.

So I find it so disappointing that we could've avoided ALL of this had there just been a better opponent. Let's face it, from political analysts to former presidents to most of the American people think this man is a frightening, ill equipped JOKE. The only take away from this election is that going forward we've learned that it matters, it REALLY matters, who is running and NEVER assume the worst can't happen.

Fingers crossed 2020 brings us better choices and in the interim, this man doesn't completely fcuk up our nation!!

Exactly! I think they were more consumed with having HRC be the first woman president that they didn't stop to think about how she would be received by the American People.

The vote was so close that if she had pulled it off Republicans would have said the same exact thing. I think that's a good indication of how bad both of them were. Why couldn't each party put up someone great and then it could have been the opposite, a battle where no matter who won no one would be that disappointed.

The GOP put up so many candidates that they couldn't even fit them into one debate. Trump rose to the nomination on the will of that constituency. Scary considering the tone of the campaign from the beginning.

The dems...that's a whole other story. We have to own that.

However, the vote was not that close .
The more absentee ballots that come in, the more of a slap in the face this outcome becomes for liberals.

I think had Bernie not called himself a socialist, he would have had a better chance. People heard that and were immediately against him, not realizing the significant difference between 'democratic socialism' and the other. By the time he clarified, it was too late. I saw more than one Trump supporter interviewed who said they would have voted for Bernie. I think he would have been amazing. I think Trump's base would have benefited the most from a Sanders presidency.

Yes. His name is Bernie Sanders!

We said this back in the spring when the nomination process was being rigged against Bernie. Bernie always beat Trump in the polls, whereas she didn't. Consistently wiped the floor with his face. People said we were nut case conspiracy theorists, only finally to be vindicated by Wikileaks, and now unfortunately the election. I would say I told you so, but I find no joy in this.

And I don't think the DNC was blinded by the dream of electing a woman president. It was $$, favors, manipulation, shady deals etc that caused this. A major shake up of the DNC or maybe the creation of a new party is required IMO.

Ans I have zero sympathy for the dems. Zero. Less than zero Chat Icon

I know it's not good to say "I told you so..." but ...

And stupid crooked Donna Brazile having a meeting with her DNC losers and then wringing their hands. Boo ******* hoo.

I'm totally with whoever protests or is sad. I feel for the people of America - the citizens. Not these out of touch politicians who don't listen and are self serving.

This is what they get.

And can we go back on how ******* presumptuous and pretentious it is to be a Democrat "fighting for America" and its little guys but you're booking mother ******* fireworks on the Hudson? Before the election? The one you really think that you had in the bag? So pretentious and presumptuous that you book a venue that has a glass ceiling and you have a shit ton of confetti that is silver to give the illusion of you breaking the glass ceiling?

This was way more about Hillary and her insiders wanting something for themselves than it ever was for us Americans.

It shouldn't be about a woman finally becoming president or shattering the glass ceiling… It should be about fixing the issues of every day Americans… It's not about you as the president… It should be about the people.

And again… I'm a registered Democrat who came so disgusted and disenfranchised and I'm angry.

I agree running someone else might have helped but post election we know many democrats in swing states just didn't get out and vote. The stats show that democrats voting in some of the battle grounds was down by a significant numbers from obama in 2012. She still won the popular vote so I think its hard that Bernie would have changed it all that much.

Maybe they would've come out to vote for a candidate they liked.

I just cannot wrap my head around this, still. Trump, in each and every debate was a deplorable mess and completely cringeworthy, IMO
He was whiny, two-faced, and just rude on so many levels.
But he won. Chat Icon What is middle America seeing that we're not? Are we really so different than the Walmart/Main Street set that we couldn't possibly fathom what they see in him? Chat Icon

Normally, I'd agree however if you look at the way the voting went in NY.................Long Island was actually almost all red and voted Republican. Here I thought LI was more forward thinking then to cast a vote for a crazy person. Shows what I know. Chat Icon

I think A LOT of people just threw up their hands with this election and felt they couldn't vote for either so they didn't vote at all. I 100% think that if we had better candidates voter turnout would've been a lot better.

I agree. I think she was so smug and that was her biggest mistake. If she took him seriously enough more people would have realized they needed to get out and vote.

Many Republicans are socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I know a lot of wealthy people who voted for Trump for taxes alone.
