The people that live accross from me still have their Christmas tree up w/ the lights on.
Around 6:00pm every night they turn on the Christmas tree lights and it's on all night until I get up at 6:00am. I don't get it.

SO, I don't think there is anything wrong. Its only the middle of Jan. I would give it until 1/31.

Are they Ukranian or Russian by any chance? Some Orthodox religions celebrate Christmas in early January.

I am not sure where they are from. I have never met them yet and they just recently moved in. I am just not used to seeing a Christmas tree up in the middle of January.

We keep our tree up until after 'Little Christmas' on January 6th...the following weekend everything usually comes down but this time all we got to do was the outside stuff. This weekend is the inside stuff including the tree.
I have to admit that while it's up I still put the lights on (it's fake) but it isn't near the front window for neighbors to see.

We still have ours up inside  I only turn on the lights if DD is staring at it.
It will hopefully come down this weekend!

lots of houses by me do the candle lights in the windows for christmas & I was justthinking while driving home the other night how pretty it looks & I'll miss them when they stop.
I think holiday lights are ok till Feb.

THe Christmas season did not officially end until this past Sunday with the feast of the Baptism. So they are only a little behind schedule. We always leave it up until sometime after "Little Christmas"
What is wrong with wanting to extend the Christmas Spirit.

Everytime me and husband plan a time to take it down something or some other errands comes up.
I am doing this weekend for sure. I completely left my schedule WIDE OPEN!

I still have my tree up and I am fine with it. I will take it down this weekend but to be honest, I dont feel bad at all for having it there still.
My daughter LOVES it and I am sad to have to get rid of it because of her. Also, people start christmas so early. By Halloween I have seen decorations. Thanksgiving is totally forgotten about. I think its ridiculous and then after the christmas, everything comes down so fast. Once the christmas DAY is over..so is the entire season. When did it become like that.
Ok..maybe I pushed it a little too much because its almost the end of January but I wanted the spirit a little longer. And when I am sitting in my own house with my lights on, relaxing and enjoying it, I am happy..and to me, thats what counts.

Personally I'd rather see people leave it up later than put it up before Thanksgiving and totally skip over the whole Thanksgiving thing!

There are still quite a few houses in my area with lights up. I like driving past them at night.
I also noticed my parents neighbor still have their tree and lights up too.
I thought it was a little "late", but, if they enjoy it, that's cool.
We always take ours down around "Little Christmas".

ours is still up too  dh isn't "ready" for it to come down yet. we are big christmas nuts and were away from 12/17-1/8 so i think he feels like we didn't get to enjoy it. i'm ready for it to be gone!

Don't forget too, maybe there are families who are keeping their tree up because someone is coming home from the service and want to celebrate the holidays with them. I like to think they are waiting for their loved ones. Or maybe someone had a baby christmas day and they just haven't had the time yet. Just a thought.

There's a house across the street from my son's school. I can see in the front picture window they've had their tree up and decorated since September, which I found odd. Then I noticed it again the other day when I looked and I am almost positive they keep it up year 'round. I'll let you know if its still up next month!

Well I took ours down last night. I am so sad. I am literally that person from the youtube video. I stood in front of it with my daughter and we both said goodbye. It broke my heart this morning when she woke up and looked in its spot right away. When she noticed it wasnt there she threw her hands up like "What happened??" I felt so bad! That corner looks so empty now. I love Christmas and I just wasnt ready to say goodbye.

Okay, so then I'm not ashamed to say that my family still has our tree up as well. It's a real tree too, but thank goodness it still looks like it's in good shape. I think we are taking it down some point this weekend  However, we don't put our lights on anymore...they came down a couple of weeks ago.
