I loved it! I also a loved the opening ceremony. I do wonder how well some of those things translate outside of Britain, for example...does anyone know who Ed
Sheehan is?

I didn't watch it, but I know who Ed Sheeran is! You should listen to his song - I love it! It is called The A Team

I'm so mad NBC cut away to that shit show Animal Practice To preview it. I was really looking forward to seeing MUSE and they didn't deem it necessary to air it. Chat Icon

I know who Ed SHeeran is. He is played on US radio, but more on Rock/ALternative than pop stations, I think.

The first time I had heard of him was on an awards show on tv.

I was wondering if a lot of this stuff made any sense to the athletes, since so many are under 30. I guess that's why they threw in One Direction & Jessie J.

I didn't think they'd know Eric Idle, but I guess Spamalot brought Monty Python back to current pop culture. Prince Harry seemed to enjoy that bit. Chat Icon

Missy Franklin seemed super excited for the Spice Girls--I guess she has fond memories of listening to them in pre-school or soemthing. Or maybe her mom had the Spice World DVD.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think they all look better than when they were at the top! Ginger Spice definitely wins for hottest last night though-she looks amazing!

I was a HUGE Spice Girls fan when they were popular. Chat Icon

In the history of Olympics, it's probably the only closing ceremonies I would have liked to see in person.

I think it's my age though:
Madness
Geo Michael
Pet Shop Boys
Imagine
Queen

Was Ed Sheehan the one who sang with "Pink Floyd?" DH was fuming that there was only one member. He did a good job. So did that Jessie girl...I hate that Money song, but she rocked her inner Freddy Mercury!

Why didn't Bowie show up? or the Who? It's not like either don't perform anymore.

DH just informed that The Who did perform...they showed that part after Animal Practice and the news! He DVRed it for me, so I'm watching it now. Apparently there's a whole party after the flame goes out, and NBC airs it separately.

They had so many more bands play, Elbow played during the athelets marching in, but you didn't see them at all! I am not a big fan of Ed Sheeran, but he is really popular in the UK. I don't understand why they didn't have more of the original Floyd line up.

Bowie's last tour was 2003-2004. It ended early due to emergency angioplasty. Reports are he quit cocaine in 1976 and cigarettes in 1998 but that's still years of damage.

He last appeared onstage in 2006.

The most recent rumor... he's in semi-seclusion in his house in Switzerland and has reported gained a lot of weight and doesn't want to be scene in public.

About a year ago, there was a papparazzi shot that hit the internet. He was attending a theater performance... not sure if it was London or NYC. He did gain weight but wasn't morbidly obese or anything.

I really hoped to see him. I still remember sitting in my cousin's room the day "Let's Dance" came out... such a watershed moment in my lifeChat Icon

Because they won't have anything to do with each other anymore.Chat Icon

Roger Waters was recently on Howard Stern.

Huge court battle for years between Gilmore and Waters. Waters won the rights to The Wall and Gilmore most of the rest of the catalogChat Icon Chat Icon and I believe the name.

Waters can pretty much only play The Wall hence the designed tour, proposed theater show, etc.

I don't know anything about Pink Floyd, not a fan. It looked stupid though, they should have just skipped it. There were rumours of Kate Bush performing, that would have been amazing, but no go. Why did they do a tribute to Bowie without him showing up? Stupid stupid stupid. Take That we're good at the end, but again, does not really translate outside of the UK. Unless they performed at your high school in 1993, the average person doesn't know who they are.
