Good luck with the half-marathon! That will be such an achievement!
I'm signed up to do a 5K in Philadelphia over Memorial Day Weekend - it's to benefit Ovarian Cancer research. My mother passed away from ovarian cancer three months ago and she was from Philadelphia, so a few cousins and I are going to run as a "team" to raise money in her name.
I'd like to run one near the end of April, for practice. I keep thinking of the Philadelphia race as really important because I'm doing it for my Mom, so I don't want it to be my first race! Do you know of anything in LI in April?
Dava, I am so sorry about your mother...I didn't realize it was only 3 months ago   What a wonderful and proactive way to remember your mother  
There are a whole bunch of runs in April. I haven't personally done any of them (I started racing last July). You can check out the following to find one you may be interested in.
