The Melting Pot
What do you think of it?
If you like it, tell me what you order when you go.
Thanks

Re: The Melting Pot
I really like it there!! I've done different things. When DH and i go for a nice dinner, we get the "Big Night Out" which gives you cheese fondue, a salad, a broth fondue with chicken, shrimp, steak, etc ( there are different choices for meats), and then it comes with a chocolate fondue, too ( everything from plain chocolate to cookies and cream ( melted chocolate with oreo bits in it). BUT i've also gone with my girlfriends and gotten just salad and the cheese fondue and chocolate fondue for dessert. its always a good time... be ready to stay about 2 or 2 1/2 hours. OH! and definitely get the "yin yang" martini

Re: The Melting Pot
I have been several times and I love it
We usually get the big night out which has a variety of stuff, but I am on the mailing list and they have specials all the time. Also, if you join the mailing list, you get a coupon for free chocolate fondue.
It does not look like alot of food when they first give your entree to you, but man can you roll out of that place at the end of the meal.

Re: The Melting Pot
We use to go to the one in CT all the time.
The first time we went we did the Big Night Out & honestly thought it was way to much food. Plus I was a bit skeeved at all that raw meat/poultry/seafood on the plate.
So now when we go we usually do cheese fondue & a dessert fondue, some wine & maybe I'll get a salad.

Re: The Melting Pot
Liked it a lot. We got the big night out. If you sign up to their mailing list, you get a free chocolate fondue. Luckily DH has a timer on his phone, otherwise we would have put food in and burnt it since we were blabbing away.
Oh, if you do the mailing list, you never get any junk mail for them. Actually really no emails at all.

Yeah, the meat, seafood & poultry all come raw and you cook them in the fondue (it's like a broth or wine-based fondue). We had NO idea it was like that the first time we went, and we just didn't like it.
We love the Melting Pot, but now when we go... we just get the cheese fondue, salads, and the chocolate fondue!

Re: The Melting Pot
to me it was ok (overall)
i did really enjoy the dessert though
i went with my girlfriends...so, it was fun...sitting around cooking and chatting...but i wouldn't go there with dh and other couples (bc i couldn't see my dh & the other men sitting and waiting for their food to be cooked!! they would be too impatient!)

Re: The Melting Pot
Honestly, I like the cheese fondue, the choc fondue and a nice martini.
The "food" tasted like oil to me and it is raw when they bring it--...I am not a fan..so I just do fondues and drinks

Re: The Melting Pot
I liked the cheese fondue and dessert fondue. But I am not a fan of cooking my own raw meat or fish at the table. I found it quite expensive.
ETA: Read the other replies and I see I wasn't alone. When I went no one got an entree but there was raw chicken piece on the floor nearby and a raw shrimp under the table. That is disgusting. I can't see how the concept can not result in some kind of e.coli issues.

Re: The Melting Pot
I go to Simply Fondue but same concept. I can't get over the raw food everywhere and I was paranoid so I overcooked everything.
What I do now is go and get the cheese appetizer fondue and then dessert chocolate fondue and its perfect!

Re: The Melting Pot
The food is okay to good - I wouldn't say it is great - but we love going there. Honestly it is great for a quiet dinner where DH and I can get some alone adult time and not rush thru our meal (we have 2 kids 2.5 and and 8 months) so it is a great place to have a quiet slow dinner. They usually give us quiet corner booths so we have some privacy.
We go to nicer places but it seems like you are in and out - this way the meal takes as long as it takes you to cook it.

Re: The Melting Pot
Overpriced and overrated.
And the raw meat made me cringe. Just something about dipping raw meat into fondue oil thats just not appealing to me.
The dessert was good, but you can make that at home.
I was not impressed, and would not go back.

Re: The Melting Pot
I have only been to the one in DC.
I agree - the raw food made me go but I got over it. I would prefer it if it came cooked and all I had to do is dip it in yummy sauces.

Re: The Melting Pot
... they still dont have a Puking Emote-icon...
to be fair, the cheese part was good and the dessert was good. the dinner i thought was Awful. plus, something about frying raw meat in something as hot as an easy bake oven really doesnt do it for me...

Re: The Melting Pot
HOLY CRAP BEST PLACE EVER!
We went to the one in Farmingdale and did the Big Night Out. There are three entree selections which vary the price. Choose the one with the lobster.
The spinach artichoke fondue was the best, we tried the fiesta which wasn't bad either. SpArt is biggest seller.
As for the chocolate, you can't go wrong with any choice!
