The idiot has spoken.....
So Deblasio has weighed in on the protests... I wonder, if you agree with Deblasio on this point, does that make you as much of an idiot as he is? Because he has hands down been the worst mayor in NYC history. I hope we can all agree on that.

I guess it makes me an idiot. I know people hate him but there are certain things that I side with him on - not a fan of stop and frisk.
I'm OK with being an idiot or being called one.

Do you live in any area where what he does effects you directly? Can I ask? I have many friends who live in NYC and the horrible changes under him are astounding.

I get what you're saying. I don't think the people who voted for Trump are idiots. I'm sure some of them are, but I think a lot of them are just really fed up with things not working for them and for that I sympathize. I guess I'm baffled over how people could overlook all of his shortcomings. to be fair, I feel the same of Hillary people. I think as a whole, our government has really screwed us all.

I can understand that. That's the part that I kind of struggle with because I really believe that everyone should be able to protest and it's one of our rights… but what you're saying is accurate because of course they're going to need to have more security and people pay a price for that. I do feel bad for the cops just want to go home and may have to do even more overtime. I'm not sure what the answer is for that. But I feel even if he never came out and said that, people would still be protesting. I do think it will die off at some point though. It just may be a while.

Well I have friends that are past 20 years and this will be their last and final year, wracking up tons of overtime that will go into their pension calculation. So hopefully this ends up benefiting the cops and that the demonstrations remain relatively peaceful.

This actually brings up a good point. The rumor is that trump wants to live PT at the White House. When the president comes to town, it causes excess gridlock, requires extra security and manpower. If he's planning on coming to NY to his home frequently, that's going to cause a shit ton more problems, no?

He's horrible. We frequent the city often. I have never seen so many homeless people infront of penn as I have since he took over. Say what you want about Giuliani, he's bat shit crazy now but the city was in order.

We (NYC residents) have the BEST police force in the world and I trust they can handle the peaceful protestors. I am proud that my mayor is offering a sanctuary to immigrants. And I know what its like to "share" with immigrants who may be undocumented, my kids probably go to their overcrowded school with them.
NYC is the best city in the world I have lived through 3 mayors and nothing has changed that much one way or the other for me.
I am getting defensive just as people do when people criticize USA and then others say if you don't like it leave.

Giuliani simply gathered up homeless people and bussed them out regularly. He didn't really "fix" anything.
I know that DeBlasio wasn't a fan of stop and frisk and it looks like stats show that most of the time the majority of people that were atopppd were innocent. Like 9 out of 10 people stopped were completely innocent.
He also is a proponent of universal pre k (although I do understand taxes went up).
I would be interested to hear the other side.

Queens resident here and CAN'T WAIT TO VOTE HIM OUT.
There is a big flipping difference between a peaceful protest and illegally blocking thoroughfares and commerce, which is what these folks are doing and this giant big bird is encouraging.
NYCFire Wire on Facebook reports that fire trucks and ambulances are being blocked from getting to people. Let these protesters live with the fact that they are causing possible loss of life to others in this city. It's hard enough for those services to respond!!!
And the moron in Gracie Mansion is encouraging it.

The homeless problem is out of control. The streets are filthy. Rats everywhere again. It's disgusting.
