Re: The boss man is here...

OK so...

I've put a lot of thought into this, and while I appreciate your attempt to keep me employed, and your gesture of wanting to keep me involved in the company, I simply can not accept the offer for sucha drastic salary decrease. I apologize, I hope I'm giving you ample warning. I would like ot stay as long as I can, but if the simple fact is that you can not continue to pay me, you will have to lay me off.

Is that terrible? That's how it sounds in my head.

I agree on one hand- but I don't want him thinking I'm quitting, I need to clarify that he will be firing me.
Maybe I just wont put it right out there, I'll let the conversation confirm it.

Just say the first part. Leave out the last two sentences, and just say "I'm not resigning. I'd like to stay in my current position with my current salary and decline the new position."

Let him take it from there.

I agree. Don't feed him too much information. You don't want to tip your hand in this situation...

Re: The boss man is here...

Should I tell him my reasons? Theres really no room to bargain, and I know that. But will that make me look better, like I'm trying?

I don't know what your reason is, but I dont think you have to give one. I would just decline. Thanks but no thanks.
