THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So lucky I don't own a gun! (LONG!)

I AM SO DAMN ANNOYED WITH INSURANCE AND CHANGES WITH THE BABY THAT I JUST THREW MY PHONE AGAINST THE WALL AND SMASHED IT!!!!!!!!!

ITS BEEN A FREAKING YEAR!!!!!!!!!

WHen DS was added to my policy, things got weird. At one point they actually made him, a newborn, the primary insured and DROPPED ME! We didn't know this until bills started coming in for LOTS of money. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I called, they laughed and said it was changed. Alright, fair enough. Honest mistake.

Now one of my dr offices says I owe money for a different appt in 2007. (oh gee, thanks for the heads up A YEAR LATER!) I call insurance and they say they can't do change nearly a year later. I call my dr to discuss the billing and they say they no longer have a billing dept, but to call a certain number and I will get a call back within 24 hours. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So.......

In a nutshell, most of my dr appts (which you know are a TON) have been billed under the wrong dr from a billing dept that doesn't exist. And since they don't exist, they just let me know about appts *I* owe for in 2007 that I can't seem to figure out who to argue with.

AND

did you know that a newborn can be put on as a primary insurance holder, but be written in as an adult?!?!?! So, his pediatric appts are now being 'looked into' because they don't know why an ADULT, with a birthdate of 8/17/07 needs to see a dr for child vaccinations.

I seriously don't even know what to do. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I cannot imagine your frustration. They sound like a bunch of complete fools. I have had some snafus with insurance before and if you keep on them (like every day) it should get resolved. Sometimes all it takes is speaking to a different person and it can get the ball rolling. I would keep escalating with your insurance company and the Dr's office. If someone can't help you, ask for their manager.

If you were insured a year ago, that should be all that matters as to whether or not the charges were covers. I don't think they can get away with saying "too late, it's been a year".

At this point, skip the phone calls, get the name of ONE person at the doc's office and ONE person at your insurance, and do everything by fax or email,cc'ing both parties. it'll get sorted out, but its better to have a paper trail Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would file a complaint with the NYS insurance division. They have an online form you can submit. I've had to do that several times and once I got them involved, all of my insurance problems were rectified.

UGH!! Kelly, I am so sorry you have to go through this - I know how frustrating insurance companies can be (we were stuck in Texas for a week and half)

My best advice - keep calling, call anyone and everyone you can, ask for supervisors / managers and write down EVERYTHING!

Good luck!!Chat Icon
