Thanks for the hugs everyone (incredibly long!)
We're exhausted, but glad it's over. They did find an issue with DD's kidney/bladder/uteter workings, and she *may* need surgery at some point if she develops any more UTIs/bladder infections/kidney infections. Also, b/c of the location of some things in her bladder, there *may* be a slight chance she could have some incontinence issues (not able to hold her urine), which we will not know until we try potty training. So, if we don't get any more infections, and if potty training isn't an issue, and if things don't change for the worse, she could get away with no surgery!
Here's my LONG rundown of the day, if you're interested:
Well, as Diana posted for me (Thank you Diana ) it was a LONG day. When we booked the appt. they told us she'd be the first appt. of the day b/c of her age (15 months) since she couldn't eat or drink for hours before. We were supposed to be there at 8:30am for a 10:15am start time for the procedure.
They were 2 hours behind b/c they had "equipment problems" and there as a 10 month old boy before her. I completely understand that he should have been first, however, since DD's procedure wasn't an emergency, we would have re-scheduled for another day so she would have been the first appt. of the day as promised (they told me the boy's surgery wasn't an emergency either). And they were NOT very straightforward with information....we had to ask how much longer. We were being very patient, and DD was sooo hungry but was being such a good girl. They really just neglected to tell us anything, explain the wait, anything. So that part was frustrating.
She went in for her procedure 2 hours late. Maybe 30 minutes before she went in, they gave her a liquid sedative which did help her calm down and she fell asleep on DH. Then I went into the OR with her while they gave her the gas anesthesia-- totally heartbreaking Her eyes were still closed when I laid her on the table, but she started freaking, and when they tried to put the mask on her she was fighting & fighting to pull it off It must have been sooooo scary But she was out within maybe 10 seconds, and then I had to go back to the waiting room.
From there, the hospital's communication w/us improved, they were really good about telling us when the actual procedure started, when it finished, and then came and got us right away after she woke up in the recovery room. I so wish I had been able to be there for when she woke up, but b/c they needed to remove the breathing tube, you can't be there (I understand). But we walked in and DD was sobbing uncontrollably and a very nice nurse was trying to calm her. I can't imagine how scary that is for little ones I scooped her right up and it took her a long time to calm down on me too-- they said the anesthesia can make their vision really blurry so that can be scary for them. She finally got calmed down, then vomited on me twice, and she was so upset. But finally she was ready to go up to the 2nd recovery area where they just wanted her to eat a few cheerios and hold a little water down, which she did.
Oh, she was such a celebrity there-- ALL the nurses (male & female) were fawning all over her-- she ate up every second of that :)
So we left at 4:00pm. Got there at 8:30, and her procedure only took 45 minutes-- ugh! But she then proceeded to throw up twice at home too, and her balance was way off so we had to shadow her everywhere she walked. But today, she’s doing awesome! Getting her appetite back, personality is back to normal practically. We’re so excited!!!!!
She's on antibiotics for a few weeks (which I hate, but it's necessary to prevent infection since they were doing some major exploring inside of her little body) and we have to go for another sonogram of her kidneys/bladder in 3 months.
Thank you all for thinking of us (and for reading this LONG post-- It helps to get it all out on here!)

Seriously, as I was rocking her to calm her down in recovery, I was thinking about the poor mothers who have babies with horrible diseases, who live in the hospitals, and what those poor mothers & babies go through. I was feeling so blessed that we were able to take our healthy child home

WOW- I'm so glad everything is OK. Hopefully, this will be the last of it and potty training will prove your DD to have bladder control.
You are both very strong, and apparently, so is your DD Having to wait all that time w/out eating! Kudos to all of you for staying so strong. I know how it feels to have to leave your baby after the Dr. gives the gas- heart wrenching!!!!!!
