Test your Smoke Detectors!-PSA
Our Apartment complex leaves a note & a battery for us every year when we set clocks ahead, and when we set them back. We allways replace the battery.
This year, we have smoke detectors that will report to the fire department if they go off, and they did an inspection yesterday, and left batteries, but in talking to the Apt Complex manager, she said you would not believe the amount of people who take the batteries out! This is crazy---this is life safety--you could DIE if your smoke detector does not go off!!
Test yours & replace batteries if necessary!
Just giving a friendly Public Service Announcement!

Great advice and reminder. Our are all hard-wired, so we don't have to worry about batteries. I do have an additional one on each floor that uses batteries just in case the power goes out. (If lightning strikes the house, it's very possible to start a fire AND knock out the power....) I test ours every so often with the test button.

Re: Test your Smoke Detectors!-PSA
The woman who rented downstairs took all of them down 6 months ago and stored them in a corner. The landlady happened to see them when picking up the rent check and made her put them all back up right then. I was beyong pizzed when I heard this. One thing for this b!tch to kill herself, but come on! We're waiting for the sheriff to come and make sure she took all her crap before the landlord will go in. I'm pretty sure they won't be up again.
