TEN % ????
I spent some time reading the What to Expect book last night and was     to read that those of us who are 30+ have a 10 - 15% chance of successfully creating a  each cycle.
Anyone else feel a little freaked out and worried by that statistic?

More than you could imagine! And honestly as each month goes by I get more and more freaked out that something is wrong and I will not be able to get pregnant. But I try not to express this to DH because I don't want this whole process to become so stressful and technical

Yes and no.
I've been pregnant more than once and each time I conceived, I was over 30. Each one only took a month or two of trying. One of my SILs had 3 children past the age of 35 even and again, first or second try...her last one was a surprise at that!
Also, I think this statistic is skewed by those who just "wing it..." no OPKs, charting, etc. I would think once you use those methods, your chances really increase despite your age.
However...
I've been trying with varying perseverance for a year now and am amazed on the months that I've done every possible "intervention" that I've not become pregnant...

My SIL is 36 and her past 2 pregnancies she has gotten pregnant on the first try. She was 33 and 35 when she conceived.

I think they mean without knowing when you are o'ing. You increase your chances by charting temping, etc.

i think 10-15% can sound low, but when you compare it to only a 25% chance for under 30 crowd.. it's not that bad!
And i think familiarizing yourself with your body and cycles can help your chances as well.

I completely agree. Of course, age plays a factor, but educating yourself and knowing your body can help immensely.
