temp question

I'm new to charting this month and today I got the spike in temp. Now, does this mean I definitely ovulated yesterday or could I have the day before? I'm assuming i did either wed or thurs. Online i've seen some sites say it is the day before and other say it could mean you did a few days before. So, i'm confused!! I am glad it went up though.

you usually get the spike the day after ovulation. occasionally the "spike" may come at a slower pace where the first day after ovulation is a slow rise, but generally you will get the spike the day after ovulation, meaning that you would have ovulated yesterday. without seeing your chart i would think that you ovulated yesterday if your temp yesterday was consistent with the previous pre-ovulation temps. if it was a bit higher there is a chance that you ovulated the day before. its not always consistent though cause the temps are directly related to the rise in progesterone which varies from cycle to cycle.
also, you can only truly confirm you ovulated if you have a few days of high temps in a row.

Yes the spike happens after - you should track your temps with fertility friend either online or as an app. It helps to identify when you ovulate - very helpful for me.
