tell me if this would just irritate you....UPDATE at bottom...
i kodaked galleryed pics of hannah to to friends and faimly members in the beginning of the week, one of the pics included that bath one with her head as a suddz ball, and the title to my pic collection was- isnt she the cutest thing?
and my cousin mailed me back, simply saying "yeah, well, not as cute as mine"
what??!! first of all, im not comparing her cuteness to your kids.....and there is no second of all, i was just irritated by that (background- she mails pics of her two kids every week to about a million people, and after every batch, i email her back saying "aw, she looks so big, and they are so cute, and your kids are adorable...")
and wait, there is a second of all- arent ALL parents partial to their own kids, and even if u thought yours was cuter, would u even SAY anything???
and THIRD of all, im so not that mom that thinks hannah is the cutest thing in the world- im totally the ones that admits= oh, did u see her pics from when she was younger, she was SO not that cute....and i am totally one to admit someone elses kid is cuter (MIL thinks i am crazy- she thinks i should think hannah is the best and no one is better and all that crazy stuff)...well, not me- i know that there might always be someone cuter and smarter and better at soccer or dance or whatever, and i dont know, thats just me.......
can anyone relate...???

Definitely irritating..but don't feel like you did anything to warrant that comment. You're right - we all think our own children are the cuttest but most people don't make it a competition. In your heart there is a bond that provides for you to zone in on your child's face with the most love and admiration possible.
Forget her comment...just plain immature in my opinion. Clearly she feels the need to defend her child's cuteness 
And for the record...your DD is such a cutie and that comment (that you posted) was perfect for the pic.

Same here. As a matter of fact, I told my friend this weekend. She said "isn't so and so (her baby's name) the cutest baby in the world?" And I said "well, he's a very close second to Steven."
I don't care if she got offended. Why would I say someones elses kid is cuter than my own. that would be a lie

Sad but true BTW.
Who has such a lack of self awareness that they actually say something like that? I guess it would irritate me a bit but it was just pathetic on her part more than anything.

Depends on my mood and relationship with the person that said it - could really go eitiher way - funny or irritating.
I've learned the hard way "tone" is almost impossible to decipher in an email. She could have been trying to be funny.

I agree- her comment was annoying. She really might have been joking but in an e-mail you need to be careful because it could easily sound petty.
I sent a friend a pic that Barb took of Matty and she ALL she wrote back was "what is he, like 16?" Matty looks older than his age- and we had given him his first hair cut. But, what about- oh he is so cute, he looks older than 8 months?!!! 
I think your friend was a little jealous maybe and just careless in how she wrote it.  Your DD IS the cutest thing!

and I totally understand how you feel. Someone will always be skinnier, prettier, smarter, richer etc. just like someone will always be heavier, uglier, dumber, poorer. You're just a realistic person. I am like that too. but her comment was irrelavant. It was so unnecessary. And she is considered family? Totally absurd. And there is no other way to take that comment. It was mean and rude and totally immature! True Friends and family NEVER EVER compare. It should never exist. People can have their own opinions but only a stupid dumb jealous j*rk off with no common sense or compassion who say it out loud. There was no playful sarcasim to what she said. It was stupid stupid stupid. She should be shot for her ridiculous comment. LOL
And for the record you're DD ius absolutely beautiful. Her eyes are gorgeous!!!!

IMO, u dont have to SAY that someone elses kid is cuter, even if it is CLEAR as day that she/he is...and you dont have to SAY that your child is cuter, even if they are....its just something that should be left alone, i guess....
it shouldnt be a big huge competition as to whos cuter than the next....thats NOT why i sent out my pics, it isnt why i post my pics here....i send pics to my faimly who gets to see hannah 3 times a year so they can see how shes growing and becoming a little girl....i post a lot of pics here, not for the comments, but more for the photography aspect....i like to take "great" pics, and the pics i post, IMO, are really good....not bc they usually contain my daughter, but bc the way i was able to capture her in a different way.....
and with some comments, i think it horrible to think that when i post pics of hannah on here, there is someone on the other side of the computer saying "my child is cuter than she is".....i guess im just not the type that thinks that way...
am i a bad person or bad mother if i say i think another child is cuter than DD? that im willing to be a realistic person...or am i a bad mother that goes thru life telling her DD that there is no one better than her- that even if she doesnt start on the soccer team means the coach is a jack*** and doesnt know talent when he sees it...?? i tend to think that the latter may raise a child that is stuck up and stuck on themselves, that doesnt care what anyone thinks bc they are the best...???
anyway, thats it....
