teething and sleep
So my dd has had some sleep issues but was getting on track. The last 2-3 weeks she was sttn when bam she started waking at night again. I think shes teething because when she wakes shes knawing on her hands and when i pick her up shes chewing on my shirt.
Shes also waking hysterical crying when she does wake. Its not like she wakes slowly she just goes from sleeping to screaming crying in 1 second flat. Shes also been a lil clingier during the day.
I give her motrin and that buys me 4-5 hours tops. I dont want to do this every night unless thats ok? I mean ive done so every night since tues otherwise shes up every 2 hours.
But what do i do in the middle of the night when it hasnt been 6-8 hours so i cant give motrin again??
The only thing that soothes her is a bottle.
I dont mean to sound cruel or stupid but i cant do the ferber method when i think shes teething right?
Its just been such a rollercoaster wwith her sleep for the last 3 months i just dont know what to do.

Re: teething and sleep
Sounds like serious gas to me. Is she on formula? This was dd until I switched to nutramigen! Also could be constipation. I give dd a little juice to help her go before her bedtime and she sleeps much better. How old?

Re: teething and sleep
I've had a couple of incidents like that with DD when she was cutting her first tooth. Honestly, I just held her and rocked her until she could go back to sleep.I offered her a frozen washcloth and teethers, but she wanted nothing to do with them. I am all for Ferber, but not when they are in pain. I was up with her from 3:30 until she fell back to sleep at 5:10, and then I had to be up for the work day anyhow...not fun!
ETA: My DD never needs to be rocked to sleep otherwise, and generally STTN without a problem.

Sounds like teeth to me. Esp if there's relief with Motrin and pain once it wears off. Teething is the devil. I've tried anything and everything. Amber necklace, hylands teething tablets, camilia, Motrin, Tylenol. Nothing helps the pain of these molars. I'm not a CIO person anyway, but when I know he's in pain I give him all the attention he needs. Hang in there, it will pass.

I agree that it sounds like teething. I would double check the dosing if it's only lasting her 4-5 hours. I wouldn't CIO and if you've tried rocking her, etc but only feeding her helps, then I would do it. I'm sure others would avoid the bottle but to me if they're in pain, I do whatever helps. I have no reservations about motrin every night if DD is in pain. If it was myself, I would take meds over being in pain so I offer her the same relief.
